resident o f Heppner She is well
remembered by many for the los ing
care she gave the patients under her
care at Pioneer Memorial Hospital
where she was an employee from
1952 to 1966 She then spent 20
years as a medical assistant and \
ray technician for Dr Wallace H
W olff
Mrs Springer was a member of
the Heppner A ll Saints Episcopal
Church She and her husband were
active in the rock jn d Cicm Society
and enjoyed campouts with this
gmup They moved to Salem in
1986
Surviving Mrs Springer arc her
huvband Arnold Bud" Springer,
daughter Ginger Springer; and
mother Floatie Moore all of Salem
A son Dick Springer and two grand
children o f Grants Pass, a sister Ruth
Martin o f San Luis Obispo. Calif

Pheobe Ann Hayes
Phoebe Ann Haves, a former
Hoardman resident, died July 2 1. in
the Good Samaritan Center in Hcr­
miston She was 84
Born Dec 4. 1902 in Lone Rock.
Ore . Mrs Hayes lived in Boardman
for 38 years Before moving to
Boardman. she worked as a rural
mail carrier for eight years deliver­
ing mail between Condon and Lone
Rock
She and her husband. Walt, own
ed the Red and W hitc store in Con
don for 10 ycras and the Hayes
Grocery Store in Hoardman for
many years
An avid golfer. Mrs Hayes made
a hole-in one in 1974 at the age of
72 She w as a member o f the H< >.ird
nun Community Church, the Order
o f Eastern Star, the Boarduun
Ciarden Club and the Boarduun Goll
Club
Funeral services were held Friday
in ihe Hums Mortuary Chapel with
burial in the Heppner Masonic
Cemetery
She is survived by oik * son. Jett
Hayes of Maupin. Ore . two
daughters. Margaret LaTrace and
Betty Putnum both ot Hcrmiston: a
sister. Roxic Lovgrcn ot Heppner.
