NEW STUD MILL
Kinzua Corporation’s most recent achieve
ment and addition to its Heppner operation,
is a new stud mill. Employing 36 additional
people, the mill will produce 30 million board
feet of studs per year. The mill uses primarily
white fir in stud production.
Addition of the stud mill will represent
another step in Kinzua’s continued economic
contribution to Morrow County. '

CHIPPING
l
Kinzua Corporation contracts chipping
operations in the woods, chipping other
wise unusable wood waste for burning in
its co-generation plant. Approximately eight
truck loads of chips are used per day. Chip
ping wood waste for providing electricity
represents efficient use of the forest
resources.
COMPUTERIZED SAWMIIJ
Kinzua Corporation’s modern computerized
sawmill produces kiln-dried lumber from
Ponderosa Pine, Douglas Fir, Larch, White Fir,
and Lodgepole Pine.
The Mill was modernized in 1987 to produce
'.lumber more economically, and to more effi
ciently saw small logs. One hundred five
workers are employed at the sawmill, which
turns out 53,000,000 board feet of lumber per
year.
