Pcnlanif lake i\ producing some pan si/e trout,
but like W illo * Creek l ake this summer, patience
ist he key to success
The trout |u»t ain't fightin over your hook this
summer like they normally do Maybe due to the
large amount o f algae and abundance ot natural
I i x k I But it's still tun to get out and try to tackle
that lunker that got a *ay last year * it h your hook,
line and sinker Not to mention your sense o t
humor
Fishermen h e lo * Me Nary dam have been cal
ching some nice \Nalleyc along * it h a le * Sturgeon You may *a n t to
give that a try over the Fourth ot July weekend
Rhea Creek and W illo w Creek arc still producing Rainbows, but the
way the creeks are dropping it w on't be long and you w ill have to sneak
up on your favorite fishing hole because it those fish see you. it's alnxist
impossible to get them to bite
Summerlike temperatures in A p ril may be partly to blame for the loss
o f thousands of Spring Chin»x>k and Coho Smolts released high in (he
U m atilla River system
Irrigators pulling water al Westland Diversion, a couple miles upstream
from Echo, arc leaving the Smolts cither high and dry or impinged on
the out dated screening system, said Don Sampson. Fish hioligist tor
the confederated tribes o f the U m atilla Indian reservation
This week the trip o f the Sportsman's cap goes to local ranc her Shirley
Ruggs. for providing great hunting and fishing for local sportsmen for
many years
