Heppner'» hoys and girls track
teams completed their seasons last

leading the competition until Ml

Palmer uncorked a seasonal best
o f 1.18-10 in the preliminaries o f the
discus and was third going into the
finals before winding up fifth

the son of Fred and Bose Johannes at
Swanville, Minnesota
He married A ltxrta Detrie Decem
ber 24. 1969 in St Johns. Arizona
He w as u logger most of his life and
retired from Kinzua Corp in 1980 He
wasa veteran of World War II serving
in the US Army Air Force He was a
member of the Veterans of Foreign
Wars and the American Legion
He is survived by hiswife Alberta at
the home in Heppner. his mother
Rose of Little Falls, Minnesota, two
step daughters. Joy Ann Wells. I.ake
Isalx-lla. California and Donna May
Cole. Tujunga. California. two sisters
Irene Johannes and Genevieve Jo
hannes. both in Minnesota, one step
brother Leonard Strom, Seattle.
Washington, and four brothers Clar
enee. Helmuth. and Marvin, all in
Minnesota, and Winifred, in Mon
tana He was preceded in death by his
father and one brother, Richard
