man to play Riverside on Tuesday
while those two hoys teams will meet
in Heppner at 3 p m on Thursday
Following those matches, the
Heppner boys w ill travel to
Pendleton on Saturday to play the
Pendleton JVs at I p.m
Tuesday's girls match will he the
Hcppncr girls final preparation
before the districl golf meet which
will be held Monday May 11. and
Tuesday May 12. at the Crooked
River Ranch near Redmond

golf teams from Mac Hi and River­
side last Friday at the Milton
Freewater G o lf Course. Hcppncr's
golf teams finished thud in the three
way meet
Playing just nine holes in both the
hoys and girls competitions. Mac-Hi
was first in the hoys race with 148
strokes followed hy Riverside with
a 168 and Heppner at 173.
Riverside won the girls match with
206 strokes with Mac-Hi second at

prepured for the district golf tourna
ment by taking on the Riverside
Pirates last Thursday at Echo Hills
G olf Course
The Mustangs fell to Riverside on
the long course 375-421 in 18 holes
The district golf tournament was
held on Monday and Tuesday at
Kah-Nce Tah but results were
unavailable at press time
The top two teams and top four in
dividuals at district will advance to
the state meet at the Salem Me Nary
golf course nest Tuesday and
Wednesday.

Heppner's baseball team ended its
season in fine fashion last Friday by
pulling out a 7 6 win over the C ol­
umbia Basin Conference Eastern
Division champions, the Pilot Rock
Rockets
With the win, the Mustangs end
cd up in third place in the CBC's
Eastern Division with a 12 6 league
record and 12-7 overall mark
Heppner led the Rocket» 5-1 giv­
ing into the bottom of the sixth inn­
ing but Pilot Rock scored five
unanswered runs to lead 6 5
But in the top of the seventh, the
Mustangs scored two runs to pull out
the win
Bob Riehl led o ff the inning by
reaching on an error and advanced
to second on an infield out
Dick Devin then scored Riehl with
a bunt-single and later scored on a
double by Troy Hyatt
Craig Angell allowed three singles
in the bottom half of the inning but
no Rocket runs were scored as
Heppner won. with Angell improv­
ing his record to 6 2
IVcvin. Russell Britt, and John
Kenny each went 2 lor 4 at the plate
to lead the Mustangs Britt scored
twice and stole two bases
IX’nnis Deno was 3-3 for Pilot
Rock and Scott Miller was .3 4 Each
had three singles
The Roc kets out hit Heppner 12 8
and struck out four more batters.

runs as the Mustangs blew open the
game with six runs in the third
