Gardeners learn about shade
With the need for shade trees to
protect plants from our hot summer
sun the topic "Shade Diving Plants"
was u good suhicct for discussion
that was held by Delta Huber at the
April 8 lone Garden Club meeting
held at the home o f Jeanne Beeson
Huber reported that there arc two
kinds of shade dense and filtered
Also the slant o f the sun’s rays a f
fects the intensity o f its heat A ll
plants need light but not so much
sun Many plants need what is known
as "fu ll sun.” There arc many plants
that do well in shade These include
most ground covers such as a|uga.
sedum. ivy (English Halilca) and
myrtle (vinca minor or periwinkle)
Early spring bulbs do well under
deciduous trees Die only herbs that
do well in shade arc bergamot or
bcebalm , sweet w o o drul and
angellicu Other plants are daylillies,
hybrid lillies. hosta or plantain.
