mission reviewed an application tor
a conditional use permit tor the
county's new office building on
Rock street Monday night
Because the offices were put into
a building formerly used as a dental
office the county originally thought
no conditional use would be needed
That came to light when the county
asked what was needed to construct
a parking area for use ot those seek
ing services at the justice court men
tal health office and juvenile office
located in the building Hie city told
the court a conditional use was need
ed for the building
Fred and Nadine Toombs, who
own a home at 162 Rock Street,
presented a formal protest against
locating administrative office in the
R I rone They said they realized the
county had spent a lot o f money. and
needed the space, but thought it was
a wrong use o f residential zoning
"T he county has erroneously es
pended large sums for the renovation

stated
They listed specific things that
would be necessary to be done

area. Carlson said
The Army has considered tour op

nerve gav on site disposal, transfer
to regional centers tor disposal,
transfer to a nalNirul disposal center,
and continued storage Because Iran
sit states have expressed opposition
to transfering the gas, the Army is
currently considering on site detox
ification centers Opinion is neutral
tending toward slight acceptance o f
the local centers, the Army says,
because of economic benefits to the
area while centers arc constructed
and operated They will be regulated
by a variety of local, stale, and
federal agencies, the Army says
