Friday night, the Cardinal girls
traveled to Condon for first round
action in the Christmas Tournament
It turned out to he a sery exciting
game with lone coming from behind

half At hall time Condon was ahead
hy one point At the end of three
quarters. Condon s lead was three
points
With two minutes to go in the
game and Condon ahead hy five
points, the Cardinals applied a little

Hams led the charge with seven

Saturday night the girl Cardinals
were again in Condon, this time to
play Crane for the tournament cham
pionship lone fans who saw
the game the night before and
figured that it doesn't get any more
exciting than that were not ready for
the final quarter o f this contest
Even with a slow start, the Car
dinals were only down by one point
at half tune The third quarter pros
ed to be very good for Crane and
very bad for the Cardinals, as Crane

The Cardinals again applied the
pressure to start the fourth quarter
All the girls played their positions
very well, creating six steals and col
lecting lb rebounds in the quarier
A complete turn around from the
previous quarter resulted, as the Car
dinals outscorcd Crane 20 to 4. to
win the game by a single point
Jo Cupps came up w ith 10 points,
all in the fourth quarter and 12 re
hounds for the game to post her best
game of the season Decna Hams led
all scorers with IK points and also
had 13 rebounds for the game
It was a good team effort The
Cardinals and their coach accepted
the first place trophy It is the first
time a girls basketball team has won
