The Mustang offensive attack was
led by Scott Buschke who had the
finest outing o f his career with 108
yards on 19 carries David Pedro,
running the ball in the first half on

as eight Mustangs saw rushing

The Heppner defense allowed

Things didn't start out well for the
Mustangs, how ever W asco Coun
ty kicked o f f to start the game and
after the hall bounced around was
recovered by the Bedside's Dan
Thomas on the Heppner 26 yard
line

to the 17 and things looked bleak for
the Mustangs until W asco County
failed to convert a fourth down and
9 on the nine when M ike Reynolds
was dropped for a I yard loss
A penalty put Fleppner hack on the
five before Buschke carried 12 yards
to the 17 and 13 yards to the 30
On third and 10, T aylor hit T ro y
Hyatt for a 16 yard strike and a first
down at the 46 From there Pedro
took over and put the Mustangs in

On second down Pedro appeared
to be tackled for a loss but shook o ff

The Mustangs were hack in
business when Karl was called for an
intentional grounding penalty on the
Heppner 32 and the Mustangs took
over on their ow n 37
Buschke earned seven yards to the
44 and a face mask penalty put the
ball on the Redside 41
On third and -9 from the 40
Buschke carried 12 yards to the 28
and a first down und later picked up
another first down on an 11 yard run
to the 12 From there Buschke car
ried to the five and then went in from
the fiv e yard line
Craig Angell split the uprights
with the extra point and a 1 5 0 ad
vantage with 4 41 left in the halt
Wasco County threatened to score
just before the half ended, but were
turned away on a 12 yard loss to the
Heppner 29 on an Karl to Thomas
pass as the horn sounded
H ow ever, at the beginning o f the
third period it was the Mustangs that
were turned away
A fter Jeffreys and Pedro sacked
Karl on his ow n 32. Padherg in­
tercepted Karl ivn the 41 and return­
ed it to the 4(1
On third and seven from the 37,
Padherg ran a reverse eight yards to
the 29 and a first down and Buschke
went six yards to the 23.
But. as T aylor went hack to pass
he fumbled and W asco County
recovered on the 27.
Devin came up with his first in
terccption a few n*intents later at the
31 and this time Heppner did
capitalize
Buschke gained seven yards to the
13 for a first down and then to the
10 but a clipping penalty m oved the
ball back to the 25.
On the next play Padherg ran the
reverse 25 yards for the touchdown
and Angell hit Pedro with the extra
points for a 23-0 lead and 2:52 re­
maining in the third period
The Redsides got on the board in
the fourth quarter after live Mustangs
failed to capitalize on a fourth down
on their own 40
