another tax Measure 11 guarantees
tax relief for homeowner* and
renters Measure 11 exempts from
taxes $25 (tllo l the value of owner
occupied home This would reduce
the average Oregon homeowner's
property lax bill by 3300 to V 40 per
year, renters would receive
equivalent relief
Measure 11 also stops the sales tax
by prohibiting the legislature from
ever enacting or putting a sales tax
on the ballot
Mcasuie 12 makes income taxes

It we vote in measure 14. we will
essentially shut down the Trojan
power plant at Rainier This plant
furnishes as much power into the
electric system as Bonneville Dam
for a cost of 2 h‘ per killowatt hour,
which is very little more than hydro
power produced at one of the dams
This is really low cost energy for our
Northwest use To replace it with
coal power such as at Roardman
would cost three times as much per
KWH
There is no use worrying about
storage ol spent rods tor the future
They arc already there and will be
until the f ederal (iovernment comes
up with a central storage area

to examine the condition of our
forest and our wildlife Well
managed they can help support our
county's economy and be preserved
for future generations laving in
these beautiful mountains we have
opportunity to experience the
priceless blessing they are to those

such mountains outside of the Pacific
Northwest offer such magnificent
tall pines and firs giving sanctuary
to elk. deer, bobcat, bear, eagles,
tniut in Ihe streams and numerous
wild animals The history of other
land* (even in the U S A ) is they did
not apprec iate their heritage and they
used it up Unless many current
governmental industrial, and private
practices arc reversed our forests
and wildlife are in danger of ir
reparable damage (Xir forests arc
being destroyed by pestilence (Air

larger yet our forests gmw smaller
and smaller The coyotes proliferate
(because of gosemment restrictions)
while in our area (Madison Butte)

ed by hunters from September tar

alone The only bucks left to the

tices takes more and more of their
sanctuary laical hunting practices

A vote in favor of this measure
will eventually raise considerably the
cost of our power The closure of
Trojan. I feel, would be a step
backward on the road to Oregon's
economic recovery. since it is one of
our most inexpensive sources of
electricity.

ed. would be very damaging to the

I believe it is only common sense to
