Don't split up county
To the editor
Newcomers to the Boardman
Irrigon area need to look at the
history of the entire Morrow Coun
ty before they hegin splitting it up
In 1917 there was no Boardman
(only (wo railroad spots - Casilc
Rock and Coyote) and about 2300
taspuyers in the county (1917 -
Polks' directory)
In (he 30'» most of the industry
(here was vune watermelon stands
with many welfare cases (I often
drove the County Welfare lady down
there )
The Port of Morrow was started
with the help of men and industry
(lumber and wheat) from (he
southern) ll is now headed by a man
from this southend
The large new schools tn (he
Hoardrnan Irrigon area were built by
the entire county and arc supported
that way
These newcomers need to look at
an activity in their area, and do
something about it The Morrow
