with a 22 M victory over the
Mustangs last Friday afternoon
Richards probably the single most
explosive offensive weapon in the

presented the biggest threat to
Heppnei
However Richards was held in
check throughout most of thr after
noon, but did complete I I o f TO

touchdowns and two extra points
But the threat of Richards was
enough for Muth to gain »5 yards

September. Hyatt's statistics were

Tuhanks is the team leader and a
starter on the Tilly volleyball team
which has o ik win over Pilot Rock
for the season
Pilgrim is in his fifteenth year of
teaching at HHS He teaches typing
I and II, accounting, and office
practice
I indsay, Tuhanks. and Pilgrim
were all honored last year lor the
sanK awards, while this is Hyatt's
first tune of being honored

Heppner 32 and a first down and
then came back for a six yard com
pletion to Ucrcht at t>K 20 for another
first down
On the next play Muth took a pitch
from Richards and went 20 yards in
to the end zone for a 144) cushion
On the ensuing kickoff Heppner
took over on its o w t » three follow
ing a clipping penalty
Three downs later the Mustangs
were still on the three and forced to
punt Kennedy took the punt on the
2M and returned it 11 yards to the 17

from Richards, first to Kennedy, anil

another touchdown After Richards

Big play was a one-yard completion
from Richards to Ixicht and a lateral

The hig difference in the game
was not Richards, hut Utnatilla'x
defense which held Heppner to 9
yards rushing and 27 yards rushing
in the second half Heppner was lexi
defensively by Bob Riehl with 14
tackles. 18 defensive points and
Pedro with 10 tackles and 13 points

and the Mustangs. 40 yards
It was the Umatilla defense that
got things going in the third period
when Taylor went back lo pass and
had his ami hit The ball popped in
to the hands o f Kevin Westfall who
returned the pickoff 10 yards to the
Heppner 25 yard line
C ru / Garcia sprinted 10 yards to
the 15 and Muth dashed nine yards
to O k six as the Vikings were knock
ing on the door
Richards hit Rod Tarter with a
one yard scoring strike and then
threw to Jerry l-eicht for the extra
points to put Umatilla in front H-0
The Mustangs, who have heen
out scored 4b b in the third period
this season, had their woes continue
