he said, were people who enjoyed
what they were doing The Church
is very supportive o f people who
wish to enter (he ministry, he said
“ It was rather d ifficult to drop a
lucrative job at my age and go bac k
to school with no income for three
years, hut after I visited the school
for two days and talked to students
and staff, my mind was immediate
ly made up "
The Church has always been an
important part o f his life, he said,
having helped him through some in
credibly difficu lt times such as the
death in Vietnam o f his twin brother
“ What I got from the Church has
been so valuable to me that I vec my
role as a minister as helping others
see how valuable their faith in God
can b e ."
A ll the traditional roles attributed
to ministers, teacher, preacher,
counselor, friend, are accurate job
descriptions, but "w e (ministers) all
need to he that transparent vessel for
God to be seen in the world and to
help people realize that Church is a
celebration o f life, not a solemn in
solution "
Sunday morning worship is a very
important part o f the ministry, he
said because many times it is the on
ly contact with the parishoners He
said he has spent much time focus
ing on the worship experience for
that reason
It's a joyous celebration to be a
Christian, he said, but if people see
