Town of Lexington Sets 1986 Fire Season
/
The Lexington City Council has set the 1986 Fire .
Season to commence on July 1 and w ill lx* in ef- <
feet until further notice.
W h ile the fire season is in effect no ofx*n fires
w ill lx> permitted without a fire fx*rmit. Fire |x*rnuts
may lx* obtained from the Fire Department. Con
tact Bill Sheirbon (989-8526) or Charlie Sumner
(989-8514) to apply for a permit.
Burning w ill lx* permitted, without a fxvmit, if
contained in a waste burner w ith an effective means
of arresting sparks and fly ash. O il drums covered
with metal screens w ill lx» acceptable for this
purpose.
The ordinance also require*, that lots lx> kept tree
of tall weeds and other flamable waste or rubbish.
The Fire Department w ill assist property owners
in burning off lots upon request.
The penalty for violation of this ordinance is a
fine of not more than $25.00.
