We will pay back this money in
two ways
First, Oregon legislators who
voted to put thiv common sense
measure on the ballot will earmark
»lollars in the state budget
Second, persons cons K te d of tines
paid for felonies and misdemeanors
committed in Oregon will he assess
ed S4U and $20. respectively. to help
retire the prison debt
I understand some Oregonians are
asking il this measure will increase
their pn*pcrtv taxes
It will not
As with all general »<bligati»>n
funds the state sells, this measure in
dudes the ability to pay off the bonds
by levying a statewide property tax

buyers to reduce the interest rate you

A few simple rules should he kept
in mind when using one. however
•Probably the most common ac
cident occurs when you runover a
rock with your mower and it vlingv

the one who gets injured is a child
Clear the lawn before mowing and
"point" the mower away from kids
•The second most common acci
dent occurs when mowers are pull
ed instead of pushed Should the
operator slip while pulling, their foot
could easily slip beneath the mower

mower sharpening the blade, for
instance disconnect the spark plug

because it raises the cutting level of
the lawnmower. the lawn can't he
cut to the correct height

depend on the size of the lawn A
hand rake should handle areas
smaller than 1.000 square feet For
larger lawns, a dethatchcr can be
rented at garden stores to make the
job easier and faster
First, mow the lawn as low as
possible and remove all dippings
Set the dethjicher to slice in lo the
thatch near (he soil surface and go

again in a crosswise direction to the
