Letters to the Editor
Support for soil/water district tax base
To the I-.Jiior
Among the issues to he considered
by voters at the Mas 20 elect Kin will
he tile proposed combined lac base
tor the Morrow County Soil and
Water Conservation District and Die
Morrow County Weed Control
District
Both o f these districts provide vital
services to citizens o f the county
The value of efforts to conserve the
soil and curb water runoff, as well
as control ol nosious weeds is im
portant not only to those o f us liv
ing in the county today . but to future
generations as well The lew cents
per thousand of valuation requited to
lund the proposed tas base w ill be
a good investment
Currently these districts are lund
cd bv some las monies and bv other
vourccv which arc mil jlw jy v
reliable This problem leaves scr
vices from year lo year in a tentative
slate with very little real assurance
ol whether or not they can continue
These districts need a finance
system that allows them to plan a
program o f services that can be
delivered each year
The best approach is to approve
the la« base on May 20 le t's gun
the light to conserve our soil and
water resources and protect
ourselves Irom the invasion ol no«
hhis weeds with a "y e s " vote on this
important ta« base measure
.Sincerely,

To the editor
W by is it that Oregon has refused
to restore integrity to the election
process by tequiring a realistic cut
o ff period for voter registration
before elections ’ Is it because many
ol those who make i n k laws in Salem
are being elected by fraudulent
votes?
Mans questionable voters take ad
vantage o l the la« Oregon process
and register |ust hetore election day
W'licn county clerks send out n u ll
mg to verity the existence of these
voters, many cards are returned in
dicaling no one by that name lives
at that address County clerks have
these- statistics, and collectively, the

staggering
