daughter of the Keithleys as is Mrs
Harrison |Sharon| Trisha Sweeney,
another daughter, her husband. Pat
Sweeney, and their family, as well
as laiverne Keithley. a son. and his

Klöppels arc from Vernal, Utah
Mrs Harriet Evan» returned
recently from a trip to Virginia She
went hy Amtrak to Portland and to
Yakima where she was joined by her
daughter. Alma I .akin They flew to
Chicago, where they changed planes
to Norfolk. Virginia Ihcy were met
there and went on to Portsmouth,
where her granddaughter. Kathryn
Davison and her husband live They
arc both in the Navy, he on a sub
marine. and she works in pervinnel
They have two children, a girl and
a boy who was just one week old
Mrs Evans visited with her
daughter. Helen, in Portland for
three days on the way home The
weather was unusually warm in
Virginia
Tom Gonty dmve his sister,
Mrs Terry Kelvins of Ckiah and her
daughter. Pat Brady, to Portland
where Mrs Brady flew to Germany
to |otn her husband. Hob, who is via
Honed near Frankfort, in the Army
They spent a night in West l.inn with
Mr Brady's mother and stepfather
before Pat left Tom and his sister

Ross River Homestead, a working
ranch or station They learned how
to make damper, a kind of bread,
with the temperature at 105 degrees
Here they saw Halley 's Comet for
the first time Two nights were spent
at Ayers Rock in a modem motel
On a bus trip around the rock, they
saw aboriginal rock paintings and an
aboriginal reservation It was the
third year of a drouth with the
weather hot and dusty, many flies,
dry. red dirt and shori scrubby
plants
In Alice Springs again, they took
a bus trip to the outback where they
were introduced to "Billy Tea" and
saw Halley'» Comet again On to
Adelaide, they toured the Barossa
Valley, visited a winery, sampling
the wine Sheep. Cattle, and wheat
were also raised in thi» valley A
4 1 hour train trip took them across
the Nullarbor Plain where they saw
kangaroos and emus running wild
They enjoyed a bus trip through
Perth, the nest slop Seven miles
away at Frccmanile time trials were
being conducted for the big yachting
race which the Australia II won last
year Australia II and Australia III
and Cookaburra I and II were try
tng out for the nest race A bus trip
up the west coast to (ieraldton. a
fishing type village with mining and
fishing the main industries and
where they had the opportunity to
