The Morrow Soil & Water Conser
vation District is a legal subdivision
ol Oregon State, officially organized
through the efforts of local Ian
owners in 1941
Your SW CD administers the ongo
ing soil and water conservation
programs as they relate to the total
resources of the District In (act the
SW CD was organized hy and (or the
Morrow County landowner to help
solve common natural resource con
servation problems
Through authority under Oregon
Statutes, the District may call in
specialists from many federal and
state organizations to help with
conservation efforts
The Soil Conservation Service
(SCS), through the United Slates
Department of Agriculture (U S O A l,
is the prim ary agency to provide
technical assistance on the local
level Congress has authorized the
SCS to assign specialists to districts
hased upon conservation needs of
(he county
The specialists work
directly w ith the landow ner in carry
ing out voluntary proper land use
programs
In addition to basic soil and water
conservation, the Morrow SW CD
includes management assistance in
other areas such as. pasture and
range improvement and utilization
improvement and development of
irrigation systems, drainage prof)
lems, land leveling, education,
woodland management, reservoir
design land treatment and water
shed development. weed control and
fish and wildlife enhancement
Your District Hoard of Directors is
comprised of seven members from
throughout the county The Morrow
Soil A Water Conservation D i s t r i c t
has a program to offer every land
owner, so when you need assistance,
call your nearest director or your
SW CD office We are located in the
new Dettyjohn Huilding on the West
end of town
The Morrow SW CD has been the
major sponsor of many field trials
involving grass seeding* herbicide
treatm ents, range rehabilitation
programs and conservation tillage
methods
A major role lor the Morrow
has been to coordinate land
treatm ent watershed projects
