Letters to the Editor
Bob Smith supports Reagan s arms race
To Die Editor
Rob Smith continues to put us
deeper in debt by supporting
Reagan s arms race His latest act
was to vote against a bill to cut 12
excess MX missiles from the Pres
ident's budget that no one claimed
were of any value for national
defense We could have saved $1 7
billion
(>ur huge expanding deficit is the
main cause of high interest rates
and the overvalued dollar, which
have damaged the ( iregon economy
And the arms race is the main cause
of our expanding national budget
Those unnecessary MX missiles
would nol k u * psss#M (hr House if
the two Smiths from Oregon had
voted against them for the vote was
very close
Bob Smith talks the deficit redu
etion line to get elected, but he has
been consistently part of the pro
