Viking» went up against the Hicer
side 1’ irate» Both trams were the
second place trams of the Fast and
West Division Cmatilla cleaned up
on the Pirates and cam e out with a
win 80-32 The win for the Viking»
sent them to play the Sherman
County Huskies Saturday the 2nd to
dec ide the second place team for the
Kegional Tournament The loss (or
the Pirates meant the end of the
season

The lleppner Fillies basketball
team won their first District Cham
pionship ever, last Friday, Feb 22
against the Sherm an County
Huskies at the Pendleton Arm ory
Not only did the Fillies win their first
District Championship but they also
turned the tables around with Sher
man County It was the first tim e in
six years that lleppner beat the
Sherman County Huskies The win
for the Fillies gave them a first
place spot at the Kegional tourna
inent this weekend. March I and 2
lleppner s main strength in the
game was their speed and quickness
w h ile Sherm an County s main
strength was there height
lleppner started out slow in the
first half of the gam e The Fillies
were having some trouble getting
their shots to fall through but in the
second half of the gam e they got
rolling The first quarter ended 6 12
and the second quarter end«»! 14 19
both in Sherman's favor
The Sherman County Huskies
were ahead all through the game
until finally half way through the
final quarter the Fillies pulled ahead
31 30 The score was only a one point
difference for most of the fourth
quarter
With only 25 seconds left of the
gam e Sherman County scored to
