Changes at Heppner TV
To the editor
Heppner T V Inc is going through
a change in their channel program
ming with completion at the end of
this year Change* in equipment
and decisions on which network to
carry takes a long time to complete
and is not done over night
This change of deleting the Wash
ington channel* in exchange of more
varied programs instead of duplica
tlon of the three networks 'ABC,
NBC, A CBS) was decided by the
interested members attending last
spring's Annual Meeting
Kach
member was mailed a notice of the
meeting and articles were in both
papers
Transfers into Heppner
TV Inc are not classified as
original member*
It has been
brought to the Heppner T V office's
attention that not everyone knew of
this meeting and now that the
changes are beginning to take place
complaints are coming in There
was no other feasible way of notify
ing each member except exactly the
way it was done If you neglected pi
voice your opinion at the beginning
of this project or did not attend the
meeting, the hoard of directors have
no way of knowing your opinions
This is your cooperative and the
decisions are made by the board
only in your favor They want to
provide the community with the best
possible service at a price custom
ers can absorb and still keep your
television cooperative solvent It is
bad we can not please each and
every member
Sincerely,
(s) J lidie laiughlin. Sec Trea

Favors ‘yield’ sign at junction
To the editor
Since we are money oriented here
in Heppner. why don't we try to save
a little’’ It costs about »500 to reline
the brakes on one of those log trucks
Why don't the county and the state
pul in a "Yield" sign at the Junction
of the new Willow Creek Highway
and the Hardman Highway’’
The north stake on the new road
will get Icy this winter and every
truck driver is entitled to an escape,
they’ve built one on Cabbage Hill
The highway through Heppner is a
through highway and the stop sign at
(the corner tietween i Kon McDonald
Chevrolet and 'Coast to Coast) is not
justified If it is. let’s put one in at
the intersection by Green s feed
Store
Both of these stops are on a
downhill stop and are extra hard on
these truck brakes and are not
necessary A limited stop sign of 20
miles should he put up a few blocks
up the Hardman road and these
correction* would take care of a lot
of trouble and repairs
These truck drivers as a group
should demand these improve

Appreciates help with haunted house
To the editor
Because this year was our last
haunted house at the old yellow
castle we want to give a heart felt
thanks to all those who have helped
over the years
Our daughter. Merry, and Kim
Wright who were our "crew" the
first year, have worked so hard
every year Tony Clement has been
with us every year except the first
Others w ho have worked in the "cast
of characters" for varying numbers
of years are Todd, Travis, and Trent
Harrison. Noella Kill. Andrea Ball.
Missy Turner. Kevin Hughes. Uoran
Hayes. Todd Lindsay, l4>ah Cooper,
Kevin Teeman, Kim Murray, Cindy
Stroetier. Tammy Hayes. Michelle
Miles. Sandra Wattenburger, Mi
chelle Cameron, Shelly Mann and
the Methodist Youth group which
included Mike Sheridan. Karen
Howe, I’atty Devine. John Brieden
back. Todd Harrison iwho even
came hack from college two years to
help» Sandy Jefferson, our NAI’A
warehouse representative has come
from Cortland for three years to be
our witch over the bubbling cauld
ran I'm sorry if I’ve missed any one
of that hard working crew
We also want to thank people who
helped with the big chore of make
up Judy Wright. Donna Moeller.
Duane and Cat Rene ken. law Anne
Cameron and Bob’s sister. Kuth
Bradley Our son. Chris helped in
many ways and Gary Catterson
provided the tape of his screaming.
blood curdling yells
Joe Miller
donated his welding work on the
gallows Bot> and Sharon Harrison
have loaned their huge old iron
cauldron Central Market has pro
vided the vast amounts of treats we
give out. at their cost price Ken and
Judy Wright, and Bob and Margaret
Murray have brought food for our
fast food service that goes on while
(he "crew" is getting ready This
year Marcia Kemp brought cinna
mon rolls even though she didn't
have a youngster involved It has
been great to have such community
support
Next year will lie our last produc
lion, but It will tie different We have
had loo many little people become
afraid of our house We want to
change that Something fun will be
going on here a happy house, not a
scary one
So is there a willing, hard working
family with an old house or an
organization who could use a gal
lows, casket, tombstones, graves,
chains, spiders, costumes, make up
etc' Ceoplc tell as we can't quit,
that the haunted house has become a
tradition in Heppner that It gives
kids something to do on Halloween
that it keeps them out of mischief
But traditions do pass from hand to
hand
The price is right, no charge to the
ones we feel will best carry on the
tradition
