B ill iVivett celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary at a reception hosted by their childrrn June 23 at the V F W
hall in Ava. Missouri
A four tiered wedding cake topped with "50" and a boutjuet of carnations
yellow daisies roses and baby's breath accented the gold and white
streamers and wedding bells which decorated the hall
The reception was hosted by the couple's children
Billie Jean and la-on Tabor and their children Brenda. Cindy, and Keith
Talior and hts wife Karen along with four month old Mejan Ariana Tabor
Jane and Alan Brown and their children Ken, Tad. la-Ann and Mark and
his wife Mary Kay
John Privet! and his wife Frances and their children Karen and Mike
Fam ily members unable to attend were John '» daughter Kim . and bill and
Floy's son Joe and his family
Other family members in attendance included Floy's sisters and their
husbands Alma and Harley Helton Vergir and John Simpson. Mes< al and
Gerald Sell, two brother* and their wives Lee and Beulah Frazier and Jeff
and Janice Frazier B ill's sisters and their husbands included Margaret and
Walter Whaley Kdria and Bill Busse. and Sallie Daniels and his brother
Jack
Nearly 100 people attended the party including nicies nephews cousins
and childhood friends and Jack and Mary Van Winkle from Heppner
The reception w as followed by a barbecue at the Tabor home and a Privet!
family reunion
The Privett's returned to Heppner July II where they expect to spend
some of the summer before returning to their home in Salome. Arizona
A no host dinner was held at Spartakas in llermiston recently in
celebration of the P rivetl s 50th
Their son Joe and grandson Kevin came from Benton City, W ashington as
well as many friends from the Heppner Pendleton Arlington area

second in the saddle bronc and
bareback competitions at the nation
al collegiate rodeo finals
Second place money winner for
BMCC was Mike Currin who brough
home *2.654) in scholarship winning*
Currin was tied for second in the
steer wrestling competition at the
regional level He went on to win
first in steer wrestling at the nation
al finals This win gave him the Hill
Robinson Memorial award of tl.ooo

In another sports related matter,
the board considered progress to
date on improving the running *ur
face on the college track The track
surface has hardened to the point
that orthopedic injuries are a possi
btlity, according to track coach
