MORROW COUNTY SCHOOL
DISTRICT NOTICE OF
MEASURE ELECTION
MOTICE IS HEREBY
GIVEN, that on May IS, 1984
an election will be held in
Morrow County, Oregon. The
polls will be open from 6:00
a.m. until 8:00 p.m. The fol
lowing question shall be sub
mitted to the qualified voters
of the county :
Shall the Morrow County
School District tax base be
increased? Shall the Morrow
County School District tax
base be increased from the
current $742,978 00 to a propo
sed $5,539,392.00? The current
school district lax base is
$742,978 00 and represents 13.4
percent of the total taxes
needed to fund the district
budget. The remaining 86.6
percent of taxes needed must
be levied outside the tax base
in order to operate the schools.
The present tax base is not
realistic and it is necessary to
increase this base in order for
it to be realistic.
This proposed tax base mea
sure does not levy a tax,
instead it establishes a new
tax base. If this measure is
approved, the school district
would be subject to the 6
percent constitutional limita
tion and could not exceed this
limit without the consent of
the voters within the school
district.
