Vester 'Stub' Hams
HERM1STON - Vester D.
"Stub" Hams. 66, of Hermis
ton. died December 25. 1983, at
Good Shepherd Hospital in
Hermiston.
Graveside services and
vault interment were at Hep
pner Masonic Cemetery on
Wednesday. Dec. 28. with the
Rev. John Maas officiating.
He was born September 19,
1917 at Hardman to James
and LaVella Kirk Hams.
Mr. Hams farmed in the
lone area for many years until
he retired in Hermiston in
1975.
He was a veteran of World
War II and was a member of
the American Legion.

6 in Heppner for C. Ervin
Anderson who died December
4. 1983 at Pioneer Memorial
Hospital.
He was born April 22. 1909 in
lone to Charles J. and Nellie
Akers Anderson. His parents,
a brother Harold, and sister
Olive, preceded him in death.
He farmed in Gooseberry
and Eightmile before moving
to Heppner in 1946. Here he
owned and operated Anderson
Builder Supply for many
years.
He was a longtime member
D.A.'s Report
Kenneth Alan Endsley, 33,
of Boardman. was arraigned
in Morrow County Circuit
Court on December 21 on a
charge of alleged Driving
While Revoked, reports the
Morrow County District attor
ney's office. Endsley is to
enter a plea on January 1 1. His
release on his own recogni
zance was continued until that
time.

Hermiston; daughters Karen
Palmer and Cheryl Ployhar.

a life member of the National
Rifle Association.
On September 1. 1950, he
married Alena Anderson in
Salem.
Survivors include his wife,
Alena. Heppner; three
daughters: Adelia Erdmann
of Aloha. Nancy McLennan of
Hillsboro and Carol Portos of
Minneapolis. Minn.; and a
niece. Carolyn Reynolds,
Boulder City, Nevada.
Music selections were by
Carley Drake, pianist, and
Ron McDonald, vocalist. The
Rv. Don Shelton officiated.

Tony Currin of Heppner, a
junior at California Polytech
nic State University, San Luis
Obispo, won the steer wrest
ling event and finished second
all-around at a rodeo at Red
Bluff. Calif, recently.
The Cal Poly men's and
women's teams extended their
leads in the National
Intercollegiate Rodeo Asso
ciation's national and team
standings at the Red Bluff
event, said a university
spokesperson.

riff's Department at the Mor
row County Courthouse in
Heppner handled the following
calls, cases and reports during
the past week:
On December 19, a Board
man ambulance responded to
a Boardman residence. The
patient was not transported.
On December 20, a Heppner
City Police Department offi
cer responded to an accident
involving a snowmobile at the
intersection of Linden Way
and Gale St. in Heppner. The
snowmobile, driven by Chris
Dahl. 21. of Lexington, was
headed north on Main St. when
it passed another vehicle. The
snowmobile was reported
traveling at a high rate of
speed and failed to negotiate a
corner and hit a stop sign.
Dahl was cited for alleged
Careless Driving.
On December 21, James
Duane Fowler. 21, of Lexing
ton, was arrested by a she
riff's deputy on a Pendleton
Police Department warrant
for alleged Failure to Appear
on a charge of having an
Expired Vehicle License. He
posted bail and was released.
Also on December 21, a
Boardman ambulance re
sponded to a Boardman resi
dence for an ill female. She
was transported to Good
Shepherd Hospital in Hermis
ton. On December 23. a Board
man ambulance responded to
U & I. Inc.. Boardman. and
transported a male with un
known injuries to a medical
facility for treatment.
On December 25. Boardman
Fire One and Rescue One
vehicles responded to a house
fire at 108 Willowfork Dr. in
Boardman at the Sills resi
dence. Also on December 25. a
Boardman ambulance re
sponded to a Boardman resi
dence and transported a male
to Good Shepherd Hospital.
On December 27. Kenneth L.
Howard. 23. of Pendleton, was
arrested by a sheriff's deputy
for allegedly Driving Under
the Influence of Intoxicants.
He was released on his own
recognizance.
P.G.G. mails
checks to
members
Checks totaling $254,092
were mailed December 15 to
members of Pendleton Grain
Growers. Inc.
These checks, which are
historically mailed at this
season of the year, represent a
portion of the profit made by
P.G.G. during 1974. pon
Cook, general manager,
commented this
brought the total amount of
cash paid back to local mem
bers during the year to a total
of $514,899. Cook added.
"These are local profits being
re'urned to local economies,
which is good business for the
entire community."

Club ladies will hold a meeting

Christmas celebration

Lorraine Ladd with Frances
