The Khoa Creek Home Ex
tension Club met earlier this
month at the C.C. Jones
Ranch. The program was a
showing of handicraft articles
marie for Christmas and other
gi ideas. This was a most
Interesting time, followed by a
short business meeting, and
dinner, after which the ladies
spent some time visiting.
Present for the day were
Freda Sloeom, Creth Harris,
Beverly Wright, Judy Slevens,
Verna Brindu, Ieila Palmer
and the hostess, Delpha Jones.
Holly Kebekah liodge met
litsl Thursday for a regular
meeting wilh a bountiful pot
luck dinner and an evening of
visiting. The hall was beauti
fully decorated in the holiday
spirit. Secret Sister gifts were
enjoyed, and the children
received popcorn halls and
candy canes Hostesses were
Kathy Tellechea and Luella
Taylor.
Debbie Sharp, who was re
cently badly injured in a car
accident, and is in a hospital in
Walla Walla, Wash . is
reported to be off the critical
list, but is still in the intensive
care unit. Among those visit
ing her recently were Mickey
Sharp. Mr. and Mrs Tick Eng,
Mr and Mrs Wayne Papi
neau, Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Robinson, Mr and Mrs F-arl
Papineau and many others.
T E. Messenger underwent
minor surgery in Hermiston
on Mondav.
F.rda Pieper recently spent
todays in St Anthony Hospi
tal in Pendleton and is now
recuperating at the home of a
daughter, Marsha Hall, in
Portland She will also visit
another daughter, Lavelle
Brown, and her husband in
Newport before returning
home Paul Morey is (staving
at the Picjht ranch while she

Ix'xington Grange met for a
regular meeting on Monday
evening A pot luck dinner was
enjoyed as well as amusical
program by Frances Smouse
with many lovely violin selec
tions and group singing. There
was an exchange of gifts, all
licmg handmade by both Ihe
men and women. The gifts
ranged from food goodies to
dor swags to horse shoe
purlcs and a two handled
hammer, shoe cleaner and
manv other fun and interest
ing handmade articles. Dur
ing the business meeting, Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Buchanan
resigned from the positions of
asvistant steward and lady
assistant steward. Joe and
Hilda Yocorn were elected to
replace them. Initiation was
discussed and il is hoped lo be
able to give all four degrees
soon, in January.
The Three Links Club met at
the borne of Kathy Tellechea
on Thursday with a lxuntiful
dinner at noon. The hostess
lurnished the main course
with memlxTS bringing salads
and desserts. A handicraft day
tar each month was planned,
and the president's visit to
Holly was discussed. This will
be m early March and much
work is to be done before that
lime Plans were discussed for
a special meeting of the lodge
on decernber 29 to help plan
lor an installation of officers
with Hunchgrass joining

benefit youth group

at Heppner Bowl on Saturay,
Jan. 7, from 6 p.m. to 12
midnight. All proceeds inclu
ding Ihe cost of bowling and
shoe rental, will be donated lo
the St. Patrick's Catholic
(Church Youth Group so that
one member of the group
might attend a youfh pilgri
mage in Rome April 9 through
18.
Pope John Paul H is inviting
youth from all over the world
to come to Rome for a trip that
will be highlighted with the
celebration of mass on Palm
r
Sunday. April 15. The Pope
will celebrate the mass, and
on Wednesday, April 11, the
youths will have another op
portunity to see the Pope at a
general meeting, reports
Michael Douglass, youth
minister at St. Patrick'
Catholic Church.
Cost of the trip will be $1,500
per youth. "We are hoping to
send one representative of our
youth group," Douglass said.
He added that the group
presently has about $600
toward their goal.
