elected to the board of direc
tors for three-year terms.
Dwight Bailey. Michael
Bunch. William Doherty. Paui
Taylor and Jim West were
elected as associate directors
for one-year terms.
Gene Majeske was re-elected
president of the co-op, as
was Gary Grieb. vice-president
and Lyle Peck, secre
tary. An advisory vote, asking
members to consider limiting
the number of terms a direc
tor could serve, passed 55 yes,
17 no.
The vote was advisory only,
and any changes would re
qurie a formal adoption at a
future annual meeting.

According to Larry Cerullo,
director, the Drama Club is
putting final touches on the
play "1984" this week and the
set is slowly taking shape.
A part of the play that will
be new to Heppner High au
diences will be the first in-per-formance
test of the club's
new follow spotlight, operated
by Nancy Martin. According
to Cerullo. the spotlight will
give a more professional
finish to the lighting of the
Drama Club's productions and
will also allow for more dra
matic lighting effects.
"We are experimenting with
it in this play." said Cerullo.

The scene is set in Oceania -a
sort of combined USA ami
Western Europe. The play is a
dramatic take-off from the
George Orwell novel and ad
dresses only short parts of the
novel while keeping the au
dience in the world created by
the classic.

actively involved in the pro
duction including a number of
first-time thespians. Cerullo

The Rhea Creek Home Ex
tension Group met at the home
of Creth Harris on Tuesday
morning. Nov. 1. The lesson
given by Mrs. Harris and
Delpha Jones was on Snacks;
the different kinds, and how
they benefit your body.
There was discussion on
what snacks are best for small
children, high school age
children and older adults.
There was also some discus
sion on vitamins, and if they
are beneficial or not. This was
a most informative discus
sion. A lovely dinner was pre
pared by the hostess with
members furnishing salads
and desserts. There were
eight members present.
The next meeting will be
held at the Jones home in
December.
With 18 members present
the Heppner Two Trackers
4-H Club met for the club's
fifth meeting on November 8,
which started with equitation
practice. Members rode In
combined age groups.
During the next meeting, on
November 13. the club will be
divided Into ability groups
with beginning, intermediate
and young horses to practice
from 1 to 2:30 p.m.. and
juniors and seniors to ride
between 2:30 and 4 p.m.
A short business meeting
will be held at 2;30 p.m.
Members who have not
turned in their registration
forms are asked to do so. A fee
of $2 is being charged for
insurance and $1 is assessed
for registration and materials,
said a club spokesperson.
Parents and new members
are always welcome, she
added.

The Heppner field office of
the Department of Motor
Vehicles has undergone chan
ges in preparation of the in
stallation of a new computer,
reports Gene Murty, motor
vehicle office manager in
Heppner.
Two maintenance repair
men from the State Depart
ment of Motor Vehicles in
Salem were in Heppner on
Tuesday, Nov. 1, changing the
counter, building new cabinets
and putting in a new Driver's
License Issuance System
computer.
Murty said the computer
will do inventory control work,
will receive and transmit data
and will make driver's licen-

fice will be transferred via
computer to a regional data
bank computer, and then on to
the state's computer in Salem
during the night, he explained.
The new state-wide system
is to be in complete operation
early in 1984. Murty said.
