State F.F.A. officers visit HHS

on Wednesday, Oct. 26. Chris
Vight, state F.F.A. president
from Newberg and Wiley
Fortsoii, otaie Irrasuifr,
Madras, spent the day with
HHS Vo-Ag students.
Fortson and Vight talked to
the students about leadership
and goal setting, and encour
aged them to participate in
F.F.A. activities.
Wednesday's visit was part
of the state F.F.A. officers'
leadership tour which has
taken them to 104 F.F.A.
chapters throughout Oregon.

Plans for an annual Degree
of Honor Thanksgiving Dinner
for members and their fami

a regular lodge meeting Octo
ber 25. The dinner will be held
November 5. 6:30 p.m., at the
Degree of Honor Hall in Hep
pner, announced a spokesper
son Turkey and rolls will be
furnished, and members are
to bring a salad and dessert or
a vegetable and a salad, the
spokesperson reported.
President Mary Bryant is to
arrange entertainment for the
evening.
Christmas party plans are
to be announced at a later
date.
The next regular meeting
will be held November 15, 8
p m.. at the hall.

The Meaisite Committee
and the senior diners presen
ted Clark with a blooming
hisbiscus plant and a rousing
cheer led by the committee
chairman Bill Collins. Collins
announced that Lola Hum
phrey is being hired as chief
cook. Humphrey has worked
at the meaisite as a volunteer
over a year and has been
' serving as backup cook and as
a replacement for Millie
Pan key.
Clark announced she re
sineed. "Because my first
priority is to spend more time
with my growing family." She
also admits she aspires to try
her hand at writing children's
stones
Seniors were delighted by
the day's entertainment a
talented quartet of instrumen
tal musicians from Pendleton
Meaisite who played before
and after the meal. Many
seniors en joyed dancing to the
liely music. Along with the
four musicians came several
popular visitors from Pendle
ton: retired teacher Velma
Bechdolt and her brother-in-law.
Archie Bechdolt. There
were also otner out-of-town
visitors including sisters Opal
Cook and Elsa leathers from
Hermiston. Columbus Phillips
was the day's lucky winner of
a free meal.

holds costume party
The Two Tracker 4-H Horse
Club held a Halloween cos
tume party at the fairgrounds
barn in Heppner on Sunday
afternoon, October 30. Eigh
teen members and guests
participated in horseback
games which included jack

treat showmanship, ghost
relay race, apple bob-along-ing.
