The JV Fillies met the Stan
field Tigers at Heppner Octo
ber 20 for an exciting game.
Heppner was really fired up.
They wanted to win. The
players knew it was going to
be a tough game because
Stanfield is a good team.
However, the Fillies were wil
ling to do anything to get the
ball back over the net. Hep
pner started the first match
with an excellent serve. But
Stanfield was down and ready
for the return. The Fillies
were realJy hustling. There
could have been a bit more
communication but even
without talking the Fillies still

played well. There was quite a
bit of net play and Heppner did
a good job.
The Fillies had a bit of
trouble, at first, getting the
ball straight up to the setter
but after they were warmed
up a bit they had no trouble
and the setter made a perfect
set so the spiker spiked it
down hard to the other side.
Both teams played very well,
but Stanfield came out on top
with a score of 15-8.
In the second match. Hep
pner came out and had the
confidence the team needed.
The Fillies were playing super
ball. They were ready for
anything that came back. The
serves were excellent and the
Fillies continued scoring
points with one server until
the score was 10-0. The Hep
pner piayers were on their
toes and moving, ready to
receive the ball after Stanfield
returned it. Both teams were
really spiking them down hard
to the opposite team, really
making them work to get it
back up. The Tigers started to
make a comeback but Hep
pner stayed on top to the
finish. They won a well
deserved match. The score
was 15-7.
The third match was n tough
one for both teams. This
match decided who would win
the game so it was now all a
matter of who wanted to work
for it the most. Heppner was
serving well. There were very
few balls that didn't go over
the net. The Fillies realJy
started talking and moving.
This was partially due to the
spectators yelling for the Hep-

pner team. The match was
very exciting and close. There
was a lot of net play. The
Fillies jumped up high enough
to slam the ball back to the
Tigers' side of the court. The
Fillies were playing excellent
team ball, the best they've
played for awhile. The game
was pretty close but with each
point that Heppner gained
over Stanfield. the more fired
up they were. The Fillies were
really showing the spectators
and the Tigers how to play the
game. It was an exciting game
to watch. Heppner continued
gaining points and won the
match, for the game. The
score was 15-11.

The Heppner varsity volley
ball team played Stanfield
Thursday. Oct. 20. at Heppner.
After a good warm-up, Hep
pner came out fired up and
roadv to play. The Fillies
knew they needed this game to
make sure they were still in
the district playoffs. The Fil
lies were really hustling. They
plaved a very good match.
Their serves were very good.
The Tigers were really spiking
th ball down hard, making
the Fillies work, but they were
ready for it to go anywhere
because they knew it would.
Heppner was ahead during
most of the match. There was
a bit of substituting for the
Fillies. The people who came
out from the bench were doing
a great job. They kept the
team fired up but Stanfield
came out on top. The score
was 15-9.
The Fillies came out for the
second match ready to go.
Heppner started the match off
with a very nice serve. The
Tigers returned but the Fillies
lost control and couldn't re
turn the ball so the serve went
to Stanfield. It was a net serve
side out. Heppner had the
serve again and then the game
really started. Stanfield re
turned the ball, but the Fillies
were on their toes and re
ceived the ball, set it up. and
spiked it down hard and
