ding Oregon State University.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Yocom
have moved to Morrow County
from Wyoming. They are now
making their home in lone
where he Is employed.
Jean Ituhl and daughter
from HermiHton, and Faye
Ituhl . visited last week in
Bend with the Jonnie Robert
son family.
Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Jones
motored to Baker on Sunday
where Mrs. Jones was the
Booster Day speaker at the
Wingsville Grange. They also
visited other relatives and
friends before returning home
on Monday.
The Three Links Club met at
the home of Luella Taylor on
Thursday. The November 5
card party was discussed, as
was the fall cord party was
discussed, as was dthe fall
card party luncheon and
bazaar which is scheduled for
November 19 at the I 0.0 F.
Hall. This will be a luncheon at
noon and card playing during
the day.
Several prizes were given
by tb hostess. Annetta Pad
berg -won,,, the door prize.

Iexington Grange met on
Monday evening with potluck
dinner, followed by a most
Interesting and fun program
of the pro's and con's of the
proposed sales tax. Commit
tees had been appointed to
study the reasons for and
against the tax and all com
mittee members presented
some fun and educational
views. The grange voted not to
support a sales tax.
The business of the evening
was the election of officers
with the following elected:

seerer Lyle Peck, Lecturer
Virginia Peck. Secretary Jean
elson. Treasurer Cecil Jones.

Plans were discussed for the
Columbia Basin Electric
Co-op annual meeting and
dinner, and for Pomona
Grange, which will meet at the
Lexington Grange Hall on
October W at 10 a.m.
A fine time was enjoyed
Saturday evening at the Lex
ington Grange Hall when the
Blue Mountain Fiddlers en
tertained for several hours.
There were members from
various cities in Eastern Ore
gon: Baker, Joseph. Hermis
ton. LaGrande. Union and
Irrigon. and others who
played a variety of songs.
The evening started with a
turkey supper, served by the
ladies of the grange. There
were about 160 people who
enjoyed this fine group of
musical people.
The musicians stayed at the
grange hall Friday night in
their campers, trailers and
motorhomes. and practiced
Saturday before their perfor
mance that evening.
Plans are already underway
for a program next year at
about this time. This event is
planned to be a yearly project
of the Lexington Grange.
The program was under the
direction of the Lecturer of the
grange. Charles Buchanan.
Indians entertain at
Historical Soc. meeting

the "Quail Dance," for those who attended the Morrow
County Historical Society's annual meeting October 2 at the
Lexington Grange Hall. A speaker from the Central Council
of Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation
presented a program. on the. reservation, and others
performed for the group.

the Oregon Beef Council. She
received a $1,000 award.
Her recipe features meat
balls with yogurt, apples, rai
sins, hazelnuts and other in
gredients in a sauce of butter.

The lesson on "Making Life
Transitions" was developed

radical and so fast that it
tends to be overwhelming."
Mrs. Straatman stresses. "We
can't afford not to take
responsibility for developing a
strategy that helps us make
changes effectively and
efficiently.
"Personal change is a tran
sition from an old way to a
new way of life that makes
sense to our inner selves. It
