Spray on Tuesday evening last
week where they attended the
social night at the Spray
Grange Hall. Mrs, Jones pre
sented Lenora Neil with a
50-year grange member certi
ficate and necklace. Mrs. Neil
joined Tillicum Grange In 1933
with her parents. She later
transferred to Columbia
Grange and then to Spray
Grange. A lovely pot luck din
ner and evening of fellowship
was enjoyed.

luncheon at the lone Grange
Hull on Sunday. Bunchgrass
Rebekah Lodge of lone was
hostess, A lovely dinner was
served. Entertainment was
enjoyed, and gomes were
played with everyone recei
ving a prize.
Mr, and Mrs. Cecil Jones
attended the wedding of
Dwight D. Crow and Helen
Farrasler, both of Pendleton,
at the Church of God in
Pendleton on Saturday. Mr.
Crow Is Mr. Jones' nephew.
The Joneses also attended a
reception for the couple fol
lowing the ceremony.
The Rev. Stuart Dick, pas
tor of the Lexington Christian
Church, is teaching and re
ceiving training at the Inter
faith Christian School in
Hermiston. There are 90
students enrolled at the
school.
Dinner, awards program
planned by 4-H Council

big event for all south Morrow
County 4-H members and
leaders, as well as youth and
adults wanting to learn more
about 411 membership. That's
the plan of 4-H Council com
mittee members Judy Wright,
Janell Bailey. Irene Plochar
skyand Betty McLaughlin. All
4 11 families (those of both
members and leaders) are
invited to attend a politick
dinner starting at 6:30 p m. at
the fairgrounds in Heppner
that evening, followed by a full
program of awards and
recognition of achievements
of members and leaders.
A special invitation to at
tend is offered to parents of
young people interested in
joining 4 II. as well as any
adult wanting to learn about
leadership of a 4 II club.
Those attending with last
names beginning A J are
asked to bring a main dish or
casserole; last names which
begin J R may bring salads;
and those people whose names
begin from S to Z are asked to
provide a dessert.

nished by the council.

beginning livestock judging at
1 Pendleton Junior Show on
.Saturday. Sept. 24
Travis Harrison was Hep
pner's high scorer with 300
points out of a possible 350. He
was the seventh high indivi
dual overall Cindy Stroeber
was 10th high among the
beginning contestants with a
score of 268.
Other members from Hep
pner that participated in the
contest were: Kevin Hughes,
Susie Martin, Sandra Watten
berger. Dorothy Hays, Stacey
Kennedy and Paula Heather
l.v. Mac-Hi of Milton Freewater
won the advanced contest and
Pendleton won the beginning
contest.
OSU announces 1984 Art
About Ag Show

Prints, drawings and func
tional ceramic items will be
accepted for the 1984 Art about
Agriculture Show, to be held
next February at Oregon State
University.
Categories for the show
were announced by Tom Al
len, exhibit chairman and
OSU professor of botany and
plant pathology.
Artists interested in being
included in the juried show
will be asked to submit their
works in January. Sponsored
by the OSU College of Agricul
tural Sciences and the
O C R. I. Foundation, there
will be about $8,000 in pur
chase and cash awards.
Last year's show featured
paintings, sculptures and fiber
art. Some pieces were pur
chased as the start of a
permanent collection within
the College of Agricultural
Sciences. The permanent col
lection will be expanded and
diversified by concentrating
on different media this year.
Drawings may be in such
mediums as pencil, pen and
ink or charcoal. Ceramic
items submitted should be
functional pieces related to
farm home or farm use.
Prints submitted must be
hand produced by such
methods as lithography, silk
screen, etching or wood block.
Mono prints, photographs or
photolith prints will not be
accepted.
The 1984 Art about Agricul
ture Show will open in OSU's
Stewart Center In conjunction
with the annual Agricultural
Conference Days program
February 28 and 29.

Heppner has completed one
station unit training
(O.S.U.T.) at the U.S. Army
Infantry School. Fort Ben
ning, Ga.
O.S.U.T. is a 12-week period
which combines basic squad
tactics, patrolling, landmine
warfare, field communica
tions and combat operations.
Completion of this course
qualifies the soldier as a light
weapons infantryman and as
an indirect-fire crewman.
Soldiers were taught to per
form any of the duties in a rifle
or mortar squad.
He is a 1980 graduate of
Heppner High School.
