Rodeo arena at Dodge City
Inn in Boardman completed
After four months) of con
struction and an excess of
$20,000 in construction costs,
the Dodge City Inn in Board
man has announced comple
tion of its rodeo arena, located
behind the Dodge City Res
taurant. The arena, which will
accommodate calf roping,
steer wrestling, team roping
and barrel racing and may be
modified for bull riding is open
to 4-H, FFA and high school
rodeo clubs and other groups

fit the city and department as
well as possibly help lower fire

class "Fire Ground Tactics
and Strategy" in Hermiston.

March 20 they took a

Willow Creek Little League
will hold tryouts Saturday,
April 2, at 1 p.m., at the Little
League field at the fair
grounds. Any ballplayer from
age seven through 12 is en
couraged to come, said a
league spokesperson. Those
ages seven and eight will be
involved in a T-ball and ages
nine through 12 will be invol
ved in regular Little League.
For those children who
missed pre-registration,
registration cards can be
picked up at school or at
tryouts on Saturday, the
spokesperson said.

sional bull rider, said he plans
to have regularly scheduled
rodeo events, mostly on week
ends, in the near future, and a
sanctioned rodeo sometime in
August is a possibility.
Tatone stresses that the
arena's operating hours are
from 10a.m. to 8 p.m. and that
animals may not be kept
overnight at the facility, but
that there will be no charge for
use of the area. "Horse people
in the area are invited to use
"Learn to Burn" class in
Stanfield.
Taking classes to improve
firemen's knowledge and
skills not only benefits city
residents' safety but can also
help to lower fire insurance
premiums if the city's Fire
Protection class is lowered.

The lone High School boys'
track team returns nine ath
letes from last year as they
prepare for their first track
meet. On April 2, they will
travel to the Condon Invita
tional which starts at 11 a.m.
This year will be a little
different for lone due to the
fact that there will be no girls
team.
Margaret Doherty, Jeff
Hams and Michelle LnRue are
gone from last year because of
graduation. Doherty was the
state champion in the 4(X)
meters. Hams was fourth in
400 at district and LaRue
improved her school record in
the discus.
Three seniors: Tim Patton,
Denny Starr and Don Taylor,
are all looking for return
tickets to the state track meet.
Patton was eighth at state in
the high jump. Starr and
Taylor however did not make
the finals in their events.

County Fair office at the
fairgrounds in Heppner are
Mondays and Tuesdays from 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. These hours
will be in effect until this
summer when they will be
changed again. As it gets
closer to fair time, the office
may be opened during the
afternoons.
