Extension slates regional
programs for farmers

OSU Extension Agent
Morrow County
A number of regional pro
grams of interest to farmers
and ranchers will be held in
the next few weeks.
The Fieldmen's Breakfast is
held at 6:30 a.m. on the first
and third Wednesday of each
month through September at
Frasu's Restaurant in Her
miston. On Marach 2, Don
Rydrich from the ' Pendleton
Experiment Station will dis
cuss herbicides for wheat.
Rydrich's discussion will be of
interest to irrigators, dryland
wheat growers, and farm
chemical dealers. The Field
men's Breakfast on March 16
will feature a discussion by
Umatilla County Extension
agent Fred Kerr on last year's
tick epidemic and a look
ahead to this year. This pro
gram will be of interest to
livestock producers. The
Fieldmen's Breakfast is spon
sored by the OSU Extension
Service office in Hermiston.

production.
The Oregon Wheat Commis
sion will hold their annual
research review on March 8 at
the Portage Inn at The Dalles
beginning at 9 a.m. The re
view provides an opportunity
for Oregon State University
researchers to give an update
on their projects funded by the
Wheat Coimmission.
All programs are open to the
public. For more information,
contact the OSU Extension
Service office in Heppner.

Lions Club President. George Koffler talks about Oregon's
star on the American flag with Pat Edmundson's first grade
class. Last Tuesday the Heppner Lions Club made their
annual flag presentation to all Heppner first graders.
The flags are given near President's Day because Flag
Day is in June when school isn't in session, explained Koffler.
The Lions have been presenting flags to the first graders
for approximately eight years, concluded Koffler.
