WIC clinic slated Sept.

A WIC clinic will be held at
the Heppner Neighborhood
Center on Tuesday, Sept. 28,
from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
Rob Hollyburton has
announced that there is still
time to sign up for the wea
therization program. Applica
tions may be obtained at the
center, or by calling the cen
ter. 676-9701, or Hollyburton at
676-5424,
The PATCH Committee will
hold a bake and rummage sale
on September 24 and 25 at the
center. Donations are being
accepted.
Adult and Family Services
counselor Janet Phillips will
be available at the center on
Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 9
a.m. to 12 noon.
A flu vaccination clinic will
be held at the center on
Wednesday, Sept. 29, from 1 to
3 p.m. A small fee will be
charged.
A free blood pressure clinic
will be held at the center on
Tuesday, Sept. 21, from 2:30 to
4:30 p.m.
The adult Basic Education
Program will begin Monday,
Sept. 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. and
Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 7 to
10 p.m. (see related story).
Open House slated Friday
An open house dessert will
be held at the Rev. Ed and Zoe
Watts' home at 235 N. Court
St.. Heppner, directly after
the football game this Friday
night.
The Rev. Watts is vicar of
All Saint's Episcopal Church
in Heppner.
Everyone is invited to
attend.
Lilian C. Turner
foundation meets

The Lilian C. Turner foun
dation board of trustees met at
the home of the chairman,
Irvin Rauch, to review appli
cations for loans. These loans
are made to students who are
in need of financial assistance
to attend a school of higher
learning. The loans are to be
paid back with a very low rate
of interest as soon as the
students become employed.
Lilian C. Turner was a long
time teacher in Morrow Coun
ty and was very dedicated to
her profession and in helping
students to continue to further
their education. At the time of
her death, a bond was left for
this purpose with hope that
someone could continue to
help this fund financially.
The foundation was organ
ized and has continued to the
present. The bylaws have
been changed, however, and
now any Morrow County
graduate or offspring of a
Lilian C. Turner student is
. eligible to apply. The founda
tion asks that those students
send to the foundation their
mailing addresses and their
dues : if they wish to remain on
the mailing list. The dues are
now three dollars.

VanWinkle vice chairman, Jo
Irvin of Irrigon, a board
member Clayton Davis of
Pendleton, also a board
member Delpha Jones of Lex
ington, the secretary.
To renew public interest In
the foundation, a spring tur
key dinner is being planned.
Chairmen are Jo Irvin and
Millie Rauch.
Mr. and Mrs. Dairy I Bigelow
Polly Fortenberry, daughter of Paul and Donna Forten
berry, and Darryl John Bigelow, son of Richard and Marilyn
Bigelow, all of Heppner, were united in marriage on
Saturday. July 24 at the United Methodist Church, Heppner.
The groom's father performed the ceremony.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor
length gown of taffeta overlayed with lace, over which she
wore a short lace jacket. Her ensemble was made by her
mother. Her floor length veil was made by Linda Panter. She
carried burgundy, roses and blue spider mums.
Patti Devine of Pendleton was maid of honor for the bride.
Bridesmaids were Conme McLachlan and Joyce Kendricks,
both of Pendleton, Denise Kennedy of Heppner and Elly
Reynolds, sister of the groom, from Kent, Wash. Maisy
Gifford was flower girl. The bride's attendants wore blue
print gowns trimmed with ribbon and lace. The bridesmaids
carried a single burgundy rose and the maid of honor carried
three roses.
Candle lighters were Alan and Danny Fortenberry.
brothers of the bride. Ring bearer was Jason Reynolds,
nephew of the groom.
The groom's best man was Rob Rush of Redmond. Ushers
were Scott Groshens of Bend, Richard Schmidt of Heppner,
Joedy Marlatt of Walla Walla. Wash, and Gary Thompson,
brother-in-law of the groom, from Portland. Groomsmen
were Dave McLathlan of Pendleton, Randy Cole of Heppner,
Clive Bigelow, brother of the groom, from Rockaway and
Rich Reynolds, brother-in-law of the groom, of Kent, Wash.
The groom was dressed in a white tuxedo with tails, while the
candle lighters, ushers, groomsmen and the ring bearer wore
burgundy tuxedos.
Wedding music was sung by Jim Ackley.
The bride's mother wore a street-length dress of blue satin
brocade which was made in Japan just after the bride was
born. The groom's mother wore a street length burgundy
dress.
A reception followed the ceremony in the church basement.
Those serving were Dee Dee McLachlan of Heppner, Marie
Vocom, Pendleton, Edna Chandler, aunt of the bride, from
LaGrande, Glorietta Hagey, aunt of the bride, from
Springfield. Hally Luginsland, aunt of the groom, from
Seattle. WAsh.
Attending the gift table were Carol Thompson, sister of the
groom and Sheila Privett. Larry and Mary Ann Cerullo
attended the guest book.
After a wedding trip to Seattle, Wash., the couple are at
home in Heppner.
The bride is a 1982 graduate of Heppner High School. The
groom is a 1979 graduate of Heppner High School and is
presently managing B & B Chevron in Lexington.

Mr. and Mr. Michael Stookey
Karlyn Adams, daughter of Ken and Betty Adams of Elgin
and Michael Lee Stookey, son of the late Montey Stookey and
Lynda Crane, were united in marriage August 14 at the
Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints in Elgin.
Bishop Roger Clymore performed the ceremony.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white
sleeveless gown with a high neckline. Her flowered
headpiece featured satin streamers which fell down the back
and into her train. She carried a bouquet of wine colored
roses and pink rubrium lillies.
Maid of honor was Mary Eckstein and Debbie Horn and
Teresa Botz were bridesmaids. Flower girl was Denise Bean,
niece of the bride. The bride's attendants wore light pink
floral, short-sleeved gowns and carried single long-stemmed
wine roses with pink and white satin streamers.
Best man was Richard Schmidt and ushers were Merle
Stookey. uncle of the groom, and Kenny Stookey, brother of
the groom. Mike Gorman, brother of the groom, was ring
bearer.
Wedding music included the song "Looking Through The
Eyes of Love."
The church yard was decorated with a Greek fountain and
bench, tables and a flowered fence for a reception which
followed the ceremony.
Pouring and serving cake were Melynda Bean, sister of the
bride. Sherry Adams, sister-in-law of the bride, and Wanda
Pennington, aunt of the bride.
Attending the gift table were Karla Crane and Sandy Botr
and Cerise Gibson was in charge of the guest book.
The couple make their home in Heppner.
Karlyn graduated from Elgin High School in 1979 and from
LaGrande College of Business in 1980 as a receptionist. She
worked as a sales secretary for Fleetwood Travel Trailers of
La Grande before moving to Heppner.
Mike graduated from Heppner High School in 1979 and
attended Blue Mountain Community College. He is presently
employed at Kinzua Corporation.

A Marriage License application was accepted at the
Morrow County clerk's office at the Morrow County
Courthouse from:
Bruce Shawn Powell, 21 and Zorieta Marie Potter, 21, both
of Heppner.

Susan McQuarrie-Ruhl and J. Keith Reisman, both of
Roseburg, exchanged marriage vows August 21 In the
courtyard of the First Presbyterian Chutvh.
Susan Is the daughter of Clin, and Marie MrQimrrlo or
Heppner and Keith is the son of Grover and Anita Reisman of
Santa Paula, Calif. 1
Dana M. Ruhl was maid of honor for her mother, J. Kevin
Reisman was best man for his father. Rich K. Huhl was ring
beawr for the couple.
A special guest for the wedding was Keith's son Cory, from
m Angeles, who surprised his father on the morning of the
wedding.
The children were asked to give their blessings and to love
and accept their parents as a part of the wedding vows which
were composed by the couple,
Keith is a property appraiser for the Douglas County
assessor. Susan teaches first grade at Hecrest Elementary.
