lishing a directory of the
state's artisans and crafts
men, announced a guild
spokesperson. Those interest
. ed in being included in this
guide should submit the fol
lowing information: name;
address; directions, if in rural
area; telephone number; de
scription of products; price
range of each item.
Although membership in the
guild is not necessary to be
listed in the guide, members
ship is available at 15 per
year. Membership entitles
members to newsletters, ad
vice on marketing their crea
tions, and coverage by the
guild's marketing campaigns
statewide and in other states.

practice Monday. The athletes are practicing mornings ond

Wheeler, and Umatilla
counties that the popular con
test is scheduled for October
23 this year. There are age
divisions for young people
ages 10 through 24 as well as a
special division for adults.

Juniors and seniors compete
for the opportunity to travel to
Portland for the state compet
ition, but the adult division is
strictly a district event. Many
valuable prizes are awarded
al all levels. This year, Ber
nina Sewing Machine Co. will
again be awarding a sewing
machine at the state contest.
Other state awards include
scholarships, merchandise
awards and a trip to the

Mrs. McCabe notes that
many 4-H'ers have shown
beautiful woolen garments in
county fair competition and
encourages them to enter
their garments in the wool
competition, as well as other
sewing entries. The contest is
open to all, and boys are
especially encouraged to enter
along with the girls, she said.
