Annuals and Their Uses was
the subject of discussion pre
sented by Dorothy Burcham
at the June 9 meeting of the
lone Garden Club. Hostesses
were Norma Rea and Joyce
Buchanan.
According to a club spokes
person, many gardeners are
confused about whether a
plant is a perennial, biennial
or annual. An annual is a plant
that completes its life cycle in
a year or less. A seed germi
nates and the plant grows,
blooms, sets seed and dies - all
in one growing season, If one
buys annual plants It is better
to choose smaller ones rather
than the large blooming ones,
the spokesperson advised.
Gardeners must make sure
the plants do not dry out
before planting, she contin
ued. Most annuals will reseed
