est office has relpawd the
following recreation report:
Dale Hanger DiMrlrt
Snow elevation Is 6.000 feet.
Access to Olive Lake Is block
ed by snow, possibly for an
other ten days. No trails on the
district have yet been opened.
Road 10 is blocked by a mud
slide 15 miles from Dale. H is
scheduled for opening In about
a month. Road 1010 is blocked
by snow 15 miles from Dale.
Ixwer elevation roads are
free of snow but are not
maintained and have not been
logged out. Road 52 is open
between Ukiah and Granite, it
has not been maintained.
Campgrounds presently open
on the district are North Fork
and Tollbridge campgrounds,
with no drinking water and on
a self -service basis until July
1. All the streams are very
high. The best fishing success
has been in the very small
streams in the lower eleva
tions. Some mushrooms are
being found, however, thcv
are scarce due to lack of rain.
llrppniT Hanger District
None of the trails of the
district have opened yet. Ve
hicle travel for all recreation
activities should be confined
to surfaced (gravel) roads.

Humane Soc.
offers
memberships
Stokes Landing Humane
Society, serving Morrow and
I'matilla counties, is offering
memberships to the society
for $10. and $5 for senior
citizens, said a news release
from the society. Contribu
tions are tax deductible and
all proceeds are used for
animal welfare, the news re
lease stated.
Members receive free filing
referral service for lost, want
ed and adoptable animals for
one year and are eligible to
receive one $10 spaying-neut-ering
rebate, per year, ac
cording to the news release.
Five sustaining members and
10 hour volunteers receive
free filing-referral service but
are not eligible for the rebate.
Non-members pay a $3 filing
referral fee per animal or
litter, but found animals are
filed free, the news release
continued.

Two campgrounds of the dis
trict are open Bull Prairie
Lake Campground with 20
cnmpsiles and no water, and
Fairview Campground with
five campsite. Fishing is a
vnilable at Bull Prairie Lake
and Penland Lake. There has
been a heavy winter kill at
Penland Lake. , Mushrooms
'are slill being found at higher
elevations.
Pomct'oy Ranger District
Two campgrounds of the
district are open - Panjab and
Tucannon, All trails are still
closed. Rond 40 (Pohieroy
Troy) is driveable to Rose
Spring. Road 42 (Iron Springs)
is driveable to Charley Creek.
and Road 47 (Tucannon) is
driveable to Panjab. Fishing
has been reported fair on the
Tucannon Lakes. Tucannon
River is not yet open. Streams
are still muddy.
I'kiah Ranger District
Both the Ukiah-Granite
Road and Western Route Road
are now open. All camp
grounds of the , district are
open, however, there is no
drinking water. Morel mush
rooms are being found at
lower elevations. ,
Walla Walla Ranger District
The poor weather conditions
on the forest have caused the
roads to remain in poor condi
tion. Travelers may encounter
potholes and soft spots along
Highway 204 (Tollgafe). There
is slill three feet of snow in this
area. Two campgrounds of the
district are open Umatilla
Campground on the Umatilla
River has been cleaned upand
the water has been turned on.
and South Fork Campground
in this area is also open.
Wildflowers and mushrooms
are only being found in lower
elevations.
