To the editor:
So often we forget to say
thank you to those people who
touch our lives, and the lives
of our children. Another
school year is behind us. and
as usual my husband and I
reflect on the progress made
by each of our three daught
ers. That progress could only
be made with the superb
direction and support of their
teachers.

Willard J.
Warren
Willard J. Warren. 62. a
former Heppner resident, died
Tuesday. May 25. 1982 at a
veteran's hospital in Boise.
Idaho.
He was born November 15.
1919 at Price. Utah, the son of
Glenn and Thurza Barney
Warren. In 1946 he married
Betty Elliott. They lived in
Heppner many years where he
worked as a carpenter. In 1954
they moved to Rupert. Idaho.
Betty preceded him in death in
1969. In October 1971 he mar
ried Florence Martin Mc
Clain. Surviving are his wife Flor
ence of Paul. Idaho; a daught
er. Lee Ann Snare. Spring
field: a son. Mark Warren of
Twin Falls. Idaho: a step
daughter. Barbara Ann Mc
Clain. Idaho City. Idaho: three
stepsons. Robert E. McClain.
Burley. Idaho. Daniel W. Mc
Clain. Paul. Idaho, and Gerald
McClain of Richfield. Idaho:
his stepfather. Wallace D.
Eldredge. Winchester Bay: a
brother Paul Warren. Hep
pner; two half brothers. Max
Warren and Howard Warren
of Neola. Utah: two half sis
ters. Terry Denney and Kath
leen Olsen. both of Utah and
two grandchildren.
Services were held May 28
at the First Christian Church
in Rupert. Idaho with his
son-in-law. the Rev. David
Snare of the Thurston Christ
ian Church. Springfield, and
Dr. Ross Dam pier, Rupert,
Idaho, officiating. Burial was
at the Rupert, Idaho Cemet
ery. For those who wish, mem
orials may be made to the
American Cancer Fund.

ington, Illinois in 1859.

flow of money. Seems one
must have a checking account
which the Morrow County
Museum does not have or the
$5 fee is levied. Fun. eh? So
the museum must pay off in
gold dust? Beaver hides?

Fancy Frosters
hold year's
last meeting

The Fancy Frosters 4-H
Club held their last club meet
ing of the year on May 20.
The club made $75 from the
Mother's Day bake sale. The
group used $40 for a trip to
Pendleton and donated $35 to
the International Four-H
Youth Exchange (IFYE).

June 3

Extension staff for the Tri
County 4-H Camp will meet in
Condon. June 3. 10 a.m. at
Butler Park to finalize plans
and events for the forthcom
ing camp. It is hoped that all
counselors will be on hand to
assist in the final planning for
the event.

Happier families is the goal
of a family life seminar to be
held at the Church of the
Nazarene in Heppner. June 2 -5
at 7:30 p.m.. and Saturday.
June 5 at 2 p.m. will be a fun"
time for kids.
Pastor Floyd Wilks says
that the program is designed
for the whole family, grade
schoolers right on up through
grandparents.
Mr. Taylor will also speak at
the June 6 Sunday services at
10 and 11 a m.
"God's Plan For The Fam
ily" will be taught by the Rev.
Cliff Taylor, an "evangelist to
the family" with the Church of
the Nazarene. He speaks from
the practical experiences of
four generations of his family,

be times when each family
will get together for a time of
communication and sharing. .

County Deputy District Attor
ney Harold McLean. He was
arrested on a Failure to Ap
pear bench warrant and ap
peared in Morrow County Cir
cuit Court on May 28. Shippen
tower pleaded guilty to Felony
Ori ing While Revoked, a pre
sentence report was ordered
and Shippentower was re
manded to the custody of the
Morrow County Sheriff. Bail
was set at $5,525. said Mc
lean. In exchange for this
guilty plea, the state agreed
not to file the Failure to
Appear charge. McLean con
tinued Charles Andrew Vandetta.
36 of Heppner. was found
guilty by jury of Disorderly
Conduct on May 26 in Morrow
County Justice Court, The
charge resulted after an inci
dent at a local tavern on
Januarty 10. said McLean. lie
was fined $177.

guilty by jury in Morrow
County Justice Court (Irri
gon) on May 25 of Driving

Marian Agnes Hescork, 40
of Boardman. was charged
with Failure to Perform the
Duties of a Driver Involved in
an Accident following an acci
dent on January 16, the deputy
district attorney reported. At
trial. May 24 in Morrow
County Justice Court (Irri
gon). the charges were dis
missed when the victim a
greed to a civil compromise
for the damages done to her
car. McLean concluded.

Dam Report

dam on
Willow Creek
At present there are no
plans to generate power, but
recent legislation makes it
mandatory for any newly con
structed hydro project to have
power generation potential de
signed in it.
The dam is being raised
about a font-and a-half a day
by construction crews work
ing 10 hour shifts, six days a
week since the later part of
April.
Foundation crews are work
ing ahead of the concrete crew
- preparing the rock founda
tions
The newly relocated Willow
Creek road is scheduled to
open to public traffic the first
of July. Paving crews are
currently placing the final
layer of asphalt.
