The sche dules will not be mailed to local postal partons this term in a money saving effort by the college, said a college lone woman plans summer tour with PLU Mavfest Dancers A performance at Mount Rushmore is one of the highlights of a summer tour by the Mayfest Dancers from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma. Wash. Natalie Tews of lone is one of the 36 members of the semi-professional folk dance group. A PLU senior majoring in Scandanavian Studies, she has been a member of the Mayfest troupe for two years, it was announced in a news release from PLU. Mount Rushmore is one of 12 appearances scheduled on a two-week tour of Montana. South Dakota. Wyoming. Idaho. Oregon and Washing Ion in late may and early June. In past years the danc ers have appeared at Disney land three times and at Expo '74 in Spokane. Wash., the news release stated. Organized in 1934. the May fest Dancers began as a small group of college women who celebrated the coming of spring with a maypole dance. Men joined the group as the folk dance repertoire grew. Today the Mayfest Dancers present authentic, colorful dances from all over the world, including Germany, Scandanavia. Poland. Russia, Mexico. France. Hungary, Yugoslavia. Africa and others. J Stephen and Karen By JUSTINE WEATHERFORD Stephen Murphy. Cathy Jen sen's soccer-playing nephew from Nottinghamshire and his bride. Karen, arrived last weekend for a one month's stay in the states. This is Karen's second visit in the U.S.: Steve has come more often. Early last summer when Steve visited here, he told us how excited his countrymen were over the weddding plans tor the Prince of Wales and Lady Di. Now the big excite ment and great concern is the war over the Falkland Is lands Many families have young men fighting with the British forces there, including Cathy and 'Stephen's family. The day the Murphys left home the word of the sinking of the H M.S. Coventry was released Nicholas Kemp. Mrs.. Jensen's nephew and Sieve's cousin, was serving aboard her. and all of his family was most distressed until word came that he was neither missing or injuried. Kemp relatives in England telephoned Cathy with this news. He has been playing professionally some years now in England, and he is going to Portland soon for an interview with the staff of the Portland Timbers. Several of his soccer-playing friends play with the staff of the Portland Timbers. The Murphys. who were married last August, say that although all the British news papers feature Falkland War news on their front pages, interest is very high concern ing the first-ever visit of the Pope and the coming birth of Prince Charles and Princess Diana's first child. Cathy Jensen's fellow em ployees at Pioneer Memorial Hospital and other friends here have become very con cerned about her nephew's fighting in the south Atlantic.
