Letters To
Vote for Ann Spicer
To the editor:
One of the county positions
up for election in May is that
of district attorney. The two
candidates are quite diverse
in experience and note should
be taken by the voting public.
Ann Spicer, the current
district attorney, has been a
member of the Oregon Bar
since 1977. She has been
involved with the Morrow
County DA's office for three
years as deputy D.A. and now
as district attorney. She has
prepared cases for and tried
many misdemeanors and
felonies during her years as
public prosecutor.
Richard McNerney, her op
ponent, is a new member of
the bar having passed the
exams less than four months
ago. There hasn't been time
Vote forjudge Campbell
To the editor:
Oregonians have an oppor
tunity in the May Primary
Election to keep an exception
ally well qualified judge on the
supreme court in the form of
Judge Bob Campbell. Judge
Campbell is the only justice on
the supreme court with exper
ience at the circuit court and
court of appeals levels as well
as the supreme court. Prior to
being on the bench. Judge
Campbell was an active small
town attdrney in John Day.

Correction
A story in last week's
Gazette-Times entitled "Bob
Smith visits Morrow Co.," was
in error.
The story stated, Smith said
that Oregon has a responsibil
ity to balance the budget by
reducing the budget. The
sentence should have read,
Smith said that the federal
government has a responsibil
ity to balance the budget by
reducing the budget.
Heppner, Oregon, Thursday,
The Editor
for him to gain much exper
ience. Ann Spicer has proven
herself. She knows the county
court. She knows what works
and doesn't. She knows how to
build a case for the people of
Morrow County. She knows
the law and does her best to
see that justice is done.
The choice is ours. Shall we,
elect a relative newcomer to
the law courts or shall we
retain our district attorney
who is doing an excellent job
already. We have to pay our
county officials so let's get our
money's worth.
Vote for Ann Spicer on May
