Graveside services were
held recently at Highview
Cemetery, lone for Elmo
McMillan, who recently pas
sed away in Portland. Mr.
McMillan was the son of Mr.
and Mrs. W. McMillan of
Lexington. They were early
pioneers to the area. Elmo
was born in Lexington In 1906
and graduated from high
school in 1925. He married
Eleanor Swanson of lone,
daughter of Emll and Mary
Swanson who were also pio
neer settlers of the lone area.
Mrs. McMillan preceded him
in death.
He was once manager and
owner of the Ace Restaurant
in Salem and was affiliated
with the Deluxe Ice Cream
Company.
He was a lifetime member
of Salem Elks Lodge 3336,
Pacific Mason Lodge 350,
Scottish Rite and a member of
the Knight Memorial Church
of Christ in Salem.
He leaves a daughter, Be
verly Ramsey and one grand
daughter of San Rafael, Cali
fornia; two brothers, Lowell of
Woodbum and John R. of
McMinnville; a sister Donna
McMillan Ritchie of Salem;
nieces and nephews and a host
of friends in the Salem area
and In Morrow County.
Memorial contributions
may be made to the cancer
society.
Lexington Grange met for a
regular meeting on Monday
evening. The evening began
wth a pancake and ham
supper, cooked and served by
Road Report
The Morrow County Public
Works Department has re
leased the following Work
Report for the week ending
January 23:
Rotten mud sills were re
placed with steel beams on the
Clarks Canyon Bridge.
Culverts and ditches were
cleaned on many county
roads.
Upper Rhea Creek Road.
Don Turner and Baker E.W.
roads were patched with cold
mix.
Roads bladed were No, 531,
No. 549, Palmatecr, Fourmile
to Cecil. Morgan East, N.S.
Morgan and Johnson Grade
roads.
In the Boardman-lrrigon
area, potholes were patched
with cold mix on the following
roads: No. 906. First. Eighth.
Pole Line, Frontage, Idaho,
Homestead, Washington, Irri
gon Ordnance, and Boardman
Irrigon roads. Curve signs
were reset on Root Lane and
Frontage roads.

Tuesday supper
The Christian Women's Club
will hold a 6:45 p.m. supper on
Tuesday, February 2 at the
Degree of Honor Hall in
Heppner.
Theme for the luncheon will
be "Frame it With Love." A
quilted picture frame demon
stration will be featured by
Kathy Hagaman.
Guest speaker will be Louise
Kendrick of Lyle, Washing
ton; her husband, Delmar,
will provide musical enter
tainment. Reservations may be made
by calling Rhonda Winters,
' 676-9294 and may be canceled
up to 12 noon, Tuesday Feb. 2.

group visited and adjourned
for the ' business of the
evening.
A committee was appointed
to set a dale for the Blue
Mountain Fiddler's concert
this spring. Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Buchanan, Mr, and
Mrs, Lyle Peck and Cecil
Jones will serve on the
committee.
The report of the budget and
auditing committee was given
by Chairman Cecil Jones.
Others on the committee are
Kennel h Smouse, Gene Ma
joske and Lyle Peck. A
lengthy discussion on the raise
in power rates was held". All
are concerned about this
problem that seems to be
facing the users of the
electricity.
A resiling "I am a Calen
dar" was heard. The next
meeting's supper committee
is Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Smouse and Mr, and Mrs. Jim
Bloodsworth.
Venice Hendrickson of Pen
dleton Spent the weekend at
her home in Lexington5. A
granddaughter Millie Yocom,
will be moving into the
Hendrickson house in the near
future.
The Heppner Gazette
Palmer and her son Scott. She
was here for the Palmer's 40th
anniversary celebration,
Pamona Grange will meet
at the Willows Grange Hall on
Saturday at 10 p.m.

Alaska has been visiting her
parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ken
Holly Rebekah Lodge met
on Thursday for a regular
meeting with NG Dorothy
Burcham in the chair. Plans
were discussed for the presi-

has been ill. and Florence
McMillan, a resident there.
Hilda Yocom spent Monday
in Pendleton to be near her
granddaughter who under
went extensive dental work at
a hospital there.
