lone students in grades one through 12 performed at a Christmas Music Program last Tuesday,
Dec. 22.
The program featured Christmas music performed in the school cafeteria by the school band
and choir.
Ileppner kindergarten through fourth grade students performed for teachers, family and
friends at a Christmas Music Program on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 22.
Music selections included children's contemporary Christmas songs as well as traditional
Christmas carols, which the audience was asked to join in and sing along.
The children performed under the direction of individual teachers and Music Instructor Kitty
Coon in the multi purpose room which had been decorated by the junior high and sixth grade
students.
Many Oregonians can renew
driver licenses by mail
Slightly more than half the
nearly lit. 000 Oregonians who
are scheduled to renew their
driver licenses during the first
two weeks of January will be
eligible, as safe drivers, to
renew by mail rather than in
person at a Motor Vehicles
Division field office.
The safe driver extension
program, approved by the
1981 legislature, allows driv
ers with no convictions, acci
dents, or other entries on their
records, such as license su
spensions, to renew by mail
once in any eight year period,
The record, according to DMV
Administrator David P. Moo
maw must be absolutely clean
for the last four years-the
seniors celebrate Christinas
the piano.
The tables were decorated
with Christmas centerpieces,
and a tree, decorated by the
seniors, adorned a corner of
the room.
A special presentation was
made by the Rev. Edwin
'Watts and his wife Zoe, of All
Saints Episcopal Church in
Ileppner.
The Rev. donated $200 to the
standard driver license period
in Oregon.
Renewal reminder notices
were to go in the mail Dec. 9
and tell nearly 9.0(H) drivers on
the mailing envelopes and on
the renewal notice itself that
they "deserve a reward" as
safe drivers.
The fee for renewal, how
ever, will be the same as for
'9,100 drivers who will have to
renew in person at a DMV
field office.
Although slightly more than
half the state's drivers appear
to be eligible for the extension,
Mooinaw says the division
expects some people will slill
choose to go to an office and
get a new license with a new
photo on it. The agency will be

toward the purchase of a food
processor and other needed
kitchen items.

checking carefully to see just
how many take advantage of
the program as well as any
problems that might develop
in the extension program.
The division trimmed eight
positions from its budget when
the Legislature approved the
extension program, so Moo
maw says he obviously hopes
most eligible drivers will elect
to get the extension by mail.
Drivers who do so will be
given an adhesive sticker to
put on the back of the current
photo license. The sticker will
show the driver's name,
address, drivers license num
ber and the new expiration
dale.
