they enjoyed a no-host lun
cheon and visited with lodge
sister Florence McMillan.
The tables were decorated
with poinsettias and small
Christmas socks containing
shampoo at each setting.
Secret sister names were
revealed and names drawn
again for next year. A short
business meeting was held
with an election of officers,
Delpha Jones, chairman;
, Joyce Buchanan, vice chair
man, and Dorothy Burcham
as secretary.
Visiting was enjoyed for
awhile after lunch between the
following members, Dorothy
Burcham, Joyce Buchanan,
Ruth Robinson, Donna Papi
neau, Catie Padberg. Flor
ence McMillan, Jo Irvin,
Delpha Jones, Maureen How
ard, Irene Padberg, and
Freda Majeske, and Hilda
Yocum. and guests Eula
Bloodsworth, Valda Smith and
Vicky Bower of Hermiston,'
granddaughters of Mrs.
McMillan. Cards were sent to
two absent members, Fladys
VanWinkle and Leila Palmer.
Maje Hughes is a patient in
Kadlec Hospital in Richland,,
Wash.
Thanksgiving was a busy
day at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Randy Hughes when they
entertained members of their
families at dinner. Present
were Betty Marquardt, Mr.
and Mrs. Gerry Messenger
and daughter of Portland, Mr.
and Mrs. Clay Grace and
family of Albany, Mr. and
Mrs. J.E. Messenger Sr. Mr.
and Mrs. Ray Miller of
Heppner. Mr. and Mrs. Bob

where she attended a seminar

She was met in Portland by
her husband Kenneth and sons

Charlene Whitney. Depoe
Bay, where they spent
Thanksgiving. Also present

Mike Kane has leased out
his home for several months
and will live in Seattle where
he will be working in the
Yukon territory at the Gas
Pipe Line station.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Smith are
moving from Hermiston to
Lexington where she will be
employed in Heppner.
Mrs. Bob Taylor was a
visitor with friends in Fossil
on Saturday, Dec. 5.
Installation of 1982 Grange
officers will be held at the
Lexington Grange Hall on
Sunday Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. A
potluck dinner will follow.
Morton Wolverton and an
installing team will be present
for the afternoon. This
installation for all subordinate
officers and Pomona officers,
and all are urged to attend.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Stea
gall have had a very happy
November, with the main
event being the celebration of
their 50th wedding anniver
sary, celebrated on Thanks
giving Day. at the Catholic
Parish Hall in Heppner. The
children of the Steagalls were
responsible for the fine day
filled with visiting, renewing
acquaintances and dinner.
There were about 90 guests
present for the Turkey potluck
dinner. Following the dinner a
beautiful anniversary cake,
and a mom and dad cake were
enjoyed by the guests.

The children, grandchildren

This was also the 17th
anniversary of Dave Steagall
and Vera Breshears Whillock.
She is the sister of Mrs,
Steagall and he is the brother
of Mr. Steagall.
Wilbur and Marie were
married in Heppner and have
spent their entire married life
in Lexington where their
childrfen grew up and attend
ed school. She was the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Breshers of Lexing
ton, her parents being the post
mistress and clerk of the local
post office for many years.
Wilbur was the son of Tom and
Cora Steagall of Spray.
Visitors coming from a

Episcopal Diocese holds convention
The Rt. Rev. Rustin R.
Kinsey presided at a special
convention of the Episcopal
Diocese of Eastern Oregon,
held in Rend on November 21.
The purpose of this convention
was to decide on whether the
Episcopal Church in Oregon
would enter into a Venture In
Mission Campagain to raise
$358,000 for mission projects in
the Diocese, in the nation, and
others on an international 4
scale.
The vote of the convention
was overwhelmingly favor
able. The campaign will begin
on January 4, 1HK2 and con
tinue for three months, said a
spokesperson.
The Rev. H. Paul Osborne, a
church fund raising consultant
