Nativity Set from Sandy HolU, typesetter
Our family began using a punch out creche about five years
ago when I was desperate for a quiet activity to keep our
energetic four-year-old busy. I found this set among
children's coloring books. Several different booklets are
available for under four dollars. Our set cost $1.98 last year
and is the third set we have used.
Materials needed: one booklet with ready to punch out
cone figures, scissors and cellophane tape.
Instructions:
1. Gather kids around a table and remove pages from
booklet.
2. Help them punch out and fold the individual
characters. Sometimes scissors can prevent a disaster if
a piece doesnt punch out easily.
3. Tape the tabs inside the slots (sometimes they don't
stay in place if they're just folded.)
4. Arrange the finished creche on a low table where
children can reach the pieces easily and rearrange them
as they re-tell the Christmas story.
Our family enjoys these sets because our children can help
make and learn to take care of the creche while

remembering Jesus is Christmas. We prefer the punch-out
book to making our own cone figures from construction paper
because the punch out type take less effort and even small
children can help put them together and be proud of their
accomplishment.
Our children have enjoyed using the set each year and they
like to act out the Christmas story by re-creating the
shepherds journey down from the hills with their sheep.

A tribute to the memory of those who have passed into the realm of everlasting peace. May they
look down upon us and behold that, true to the motto of our order, we have kept faith and inscribed
their virtues upon the tablets of love and memory.
The clock of their days has stopped, across its face the motionless shadow marks the hour of
eleven our period of recollection.
The following Brothers will be honored may you rest in peace.
