    Mustangs roll over Umatilla 58-12
The Heppner Gazette-Tlmes, Heppner. OreRon, Thursday, October I. 19RI-8EVEN
By ANNK Ml'RRAY
The Heppner MusUmtfs kept
their plana rolling Friday
night by rolling over the
Umatilla Vikings, with a acore
or 58 12.
The Mustangs started off
wltha bang. On the third play
of the game, quarterback
Doug Holland pulled away
from the pack and then
scrambled 71 yards down the
sideline to the end tone. That
was JubI the beginning of a
long night to come for
Umatilla.
On the Mustangs' next
possession Holland connected
with split end Dorian Form
for an 88 yard touchdown. The
fans loved that play so much
that on Heppner's next posses
sion Holland and Forrar
paired up once again, this
time for a 43 yard touchdown
toss.
By the time the second
quarter had rolled around the
Mustangs were ahead 21-0.
But the Mustangs weren't
quite satisfied. John Murray
proved that by scoring three
touchdowns in the second
qurter. The first of which was
a 23 yard interception return.
Murray's second touchdown
came from a 59 yard break.
Murray had a break in the
scoring as senior Cliff Dough
erty returned a punt 35 yards
for a touchdown. Murray then
got his third and final touch
down with a 29 yard jaunt to
the endzone.
During much of the second
qurter and all of the second
half Coach John Sporseen
played everybody who dres
sed down.
The Mustangs didn't gener
ate much offense during the
third quarter. But the Vikings'
quarterback, Brian Follett,
was able to dive 1 yard for six.
The Mustangs then picked
up offensively, with Jeff Orr at
the helm. Orr plunged one
yard to the end zone.
The Vikings then came back
with a 39 yard pass from
Follett to Frank Dornan for
another aix.
Heppner wasn't quite finish-
