Gene and Fay Pierce, Heppner, have been awarded
Heppner'i Yard of the Month award.
The Pierce' yard, at 615 S. Alfalfa, was chosen by
members of the Heppner Garden Club.
The yard was chosen because the Pierce's had
incorporated the landscaping of Hager Park, into the
landscape of their yard. The grooming of the yard was also
considered for presentation of the award, sail a
spokesperson from the Garden Club.

lone Band Carnival
slated Sept. 27
The lone Band Carnival will
be held Sunday, Sept. 27 at the
lone Ltgion Hall from 1 to 5
p.m.
A stew dinner, chili, hot
dogs, salad, pie and coffee will
be available at the carnival.
Proceeds from the carnival
will go towards new band
uniforms for the students.

at the Willow Creek Country
Club.
The golf tournament will
begin with coffee and rolls at R
a.m. A nine hole Qualifying
Round will begin at 8:30.
There will be three flights in
golfing ability.
The front nine of the
eighteen hole Medal Play is
scheduled for 10:30 a m. with
the hack nine being played ,
after lunch at IJ :!i p.m
Prizes for gross and specinl
awards will be presented
according to flights at 2 p.m.
Last year's top winner was
James Burns of Condon
The benefit prizes have been
donated by Les Schwab Tires.
Coast to Coast. Cole's House of
Fashion. The Shoe Box. and
Gardner's Men's Wear, all
Heppner merchants.
According to a club spokes
person, approximately 40 golf
ers are expected to participate
and the Lion's Club invites the
public to attend.
