In the Northwest will be
meeting with wheat growers
on Thursday, September 3, at
7:30 p.m. In Thompson Hall at
the Umatilla County Fair
grounds In Hermiston. Wheat
growers are encouraged to
attend.
Take-all yellow dwarf virus,
and stripe rust are but a few of
the diseases affecting wheat In
our area and they po"
serious threat to wheat pro
duction. Dr. Bob Powelson,
Extension plant pathologist
from OSU. will talk about the
latest take-all research. Paul
Rasmussen and Vance Pum
phrey from the Columbia
Basin Ag Research Center in
Pendleton, will present find
ings from take-all research
conducted In our area this
summer. The scientists will
also discuss yellow dwarf
virus, stripe rust, and any
other disease topics you might
have questions about.
The meeting will be inform
al with plenty of opportunity
for discussion. Planting time
is upon us and many of the
wheat disease problems you"ll
face and the methods of
control will be discussed.
