Mr. and Mrs. Greg Leyvar
and children, Kevin and
Stacey, of Wilbur, Wash.,
visited over the weekend with
her parenta, Mr. and Mrs.
Wilbur Steagall.
Enid Stamback of Hainet,
Ore., ii visiting at the Cecil
Jones' home this week. Mr.
and Mrs. Jones met her in
Hermiston on Sunday and
visited at the Good Samaritan
Center with Florence McMil
lan and John Spence.
Jack Yocom, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Yocom returned to
his home on Friday from
Germany where he has been
stationed with the US Army
for three years. On Sunday the
Yocoms entertained with a
welcome home party for Jack
and a birthday party honoring
their granddaughters, Jane
and Brenda Jones. Present
were: Venice Hendrickson,
Millie Yocom, Heppner, Deb
bie Jones and daughters, Mike
Davidson, Marie Yocom and
friend from Pendleton, For
rest Rinehart, Ukiah, and Mr.
and Mrs. Yocom, and son
Jack.
Mr. and Mrs. Hobart Taffy
from Fossil visited her bro
ther and wife, Mr. and Mrs.
Wilbur Steagall on Saturday.
Gladys VanWinkle has as
guests at her home this past
week her grandchildren, the
daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Bob
VanWinkle of Paulina and
Jason VanWinkle of Tacoma.
Mike Kane is visiting his son
Patrick and friends in Lexing
ton. He and Patrick and Jason
VanWinkle enjoyed a fishing
trip to the mountains over the
weekend.
Joyce Buchanan motored to
The Dalles Thursday taking
her grandchildren there to
meet their parents from
Hlllsboro, who returned home
with them after a week's visit
in Lexington.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gonty are
having several pleasing
events in their family this
summer. Their youngest son,
U S. Airforce Staff Sgt. Doug
las and his wife Anastatia and
their daughter Sophia are now
in Cheyenne. Wyoming. They
have returned to the United
Suites after Doug served one
year in Greece and three
years in The Netherlands.
Before they left Holland
they made a farewell visit
with Gonty relatives in Bel
glum. When they returned to
the states they visited Anas
tatia ' parents in Florida
before moving to Cheyenne.
The Gonty's daughter, Evie,
(Mrs. Terry Blevins of Ukiah)
took her younger daughter
Pam to Portland to fly to;
Denmark where she will stay
all yeir as an exchange
student sponsored by Rotary
International. Pam is a junior
at Ukiah High School. Pam's
sister Pat, who will enter
Eastern Oregon State College
this fall, and the girls' uncle,
Tom Gonty, accompanied
Pam and Evie to Portland.
This fall, the Gonty s, Ed,
Eleanor and Tom, plan to
drive to Cheyenne to visit their
airforce family and to have
their first meeting with baby
Sophia. It Is possible that they
may get down to nearby
Denver to visit with Mike
Prock, Doug's Heppner
friend, who is also in the
airforce and is stationed at
Lowry Airforce Base, Mike's
parents, Pat and Jim visited
him there recently.
Rawlins is
state champion
Earlier this month Charles
Rawlins won his second state
championship as Oregon's
best left-handed golfer. Char
lie has held this title for two
years now. This year's left
hand tournament was held at
the Albany Country Club.
Rawlins is working at the
Bend Country Club again this
summer.
Mrs. Louota's sister Irene
Padberg this past week.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Miller
of Hermiston were Lexington
callers on Sunday.
