THERE IS NOTHING
SO STRONG
AS AN IDEA WHOSE
TIME HAS COME.
And in September, 1980, the time came for the
Boardman Coal Plant... dedicated as a strong, new
energy source for the people of the Northwest.
In 1973. PGE foresaw the need for additional
generating plants to keep up with the people's need for
electricity in the 1980s and beyond. It was then that the
idea was developed. Once the futuristic idea of the
Boardman Power Project officially became a reality... it
was an idea whose time had come.
The dedication of the Boardman Coal Plant Sep
tember 16. 1980. marked more than the generation of a
much needed 530,000 kilowatts of electricity. It stands as
a constant reminder of PGE and our partners' commit
ment to provide the power the people in the Northwest
need to run our homes and perform our jobs.
We. along with our partners, Idaho Power Company
and Pacific Northwest Generating Company, cordially in
vite you to visit the Boardman Power Project The plant is
located 1 1 miles south of the interchange of Tower Road
and 1-84. The Visitors' Center is open Mondays through
Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon
to 4 p.m. The Boardman Coal Plant... a powerful idea
whose time has come.
