Delpha Jones retired as chairperson of the fair committee at
the end of the 1980 fair after more than eight years of
dedicated service. She became involved in the fair in 1972 and
has held many positions and served in different capacities
through the years to promote and organize the Morrow County
Fair. She served on a committee in 1972 to update the fair
books, and in 1975 was elected chairperson for the newly
formed fair committee. Later Delpha was asked to be fair
co-ordinator, which involved long hours of organizing and
being on the grounds during the fair to help supervise. She has
served as committee secretary and as Superintendent of
Delpha Jones
Flowers, as well as in charge of the Community Booths. Every
year Delpha also worked along with Jim Wishart to organize
the parade and has helped judge the floats.
Delpha and her husband Cecil, have lived in Morrow County
for over 30 years and run a wheat ranch outside Lexington.
They have been involved in various community organizations,
and this year Delpha was elected Master of the Lexington
Grange. She is also a long-standing member of the HOliy
Rebekah Lodge and involved in the Oregon Lung Assoc.
We are dedicating this fair book to Delpha for the hours and
hours of work she contributed to insure that Morrow County
had a fair of which we could be proud.
