Entertainment was provided
by "Axel" a group from
Spokane. "It was a great prom
and everyone had a good
time," said a school spokesperson.

The "Best of Times" will be
the theme and atmosphere, on
Friday, May 15. at 6:30 p.m.,
when 51 students and their
parents gather for the Hep
pner 8th grade graduation at
the Heppner Elks Lodge.
Among the honored students
and their parents will be 30
guests of teachers and admin
istrators. Presiding over the evening's
dinner will be Master of
Ceremonies Ron Forrar.
Guest Speaker will be Jim
Ackley and Damon Wilson will
read the class prophecies."
Rainbow colors will accent
the theme and dance to be held
following the graduation from
8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Students
from lone junior High School
are invited to attend the
dance.

offering their Veteran's Pop
pies one day only this year,
Friday. May 22.

betweeen Peterson's Jewelers
and the Post Office and at

The red memorial poppies
are made by disabled veter
ans, who receive a small sum
for each poppy.
The money they receive for
their efforts enables them to
buy personal items not furn
ished by the hospitals, al
though many save it for the
day they can be discharged or
send it to their families.
Making the poppies helps
them pass the long day.

The basic purpose of Poppy
Day is (o offer the American
public an opportunity to honor
the war dead and to assist the
living.
Donations of any amount
are accepted. All funds re
ceived are used to aid disabled
veterans, their families and
the families of deceased
servicemen.
